Summary: In our world today we need a clear vision of where we are and who Jesus is!
What do you believe about Jesus?
Do you believe
Psalms 147:5
He is all Knowing?
Revelation 19:6-8
He is all powerful?
Psalms 139:7-12
All present
Mark 8:22-26
A story about a man who was blind
You can be blind physically
You can be blind spiritually
All types of vision:
Completely Blind
Partially blind
One eye
Blurry Vision
Dry Eyes
Watery Eyes
20/20 vision
1) Some people brought a blind man begged Jesus to touch him
a. They believed in the power of a touch
2) Jesus took Him by the hand took him outside the village
a. I know Jesus could have healed him without taking him outside the village
b. Could have healed him without touching him by taking his hand
c. Something taking place here
d. Principal
3) Got Him away from his friends, his comfort spot, his familiar place.
As a blind man this must have been somewhat disturbing
Where are you taking me?
Blind people have a keen sense of smell, hearing
4) First touch man could see better
First touch the man’s vision was better but not the best that it could be.
He could have settled for the first touch.
5) It’s interesting that Jesus asked the man do you see better?
Jesus knew exactly how the man could see
But this was a test to see if the man was going to be content with what he had received
If he was going to settle for second best or stay in the presence of Jesus until he was completely healed.
6) He could have taken the mentality well I guess this is as good as It gets.
a. He could have done like many of us and be content with the first touch
I’ll just settle for this and go on my way
First touch Marriage got better
Kids doing better
At work things are better
I’m not as lonely as I was
Seems the depression has lifted of some
Financially I’m doing better
My health is better
7) Vs 24 I see people they look like trees walking
a. At one point the man must have been able to see to be able to recognize what looked like a tree.
b. The man was honest
i. Its better but I know it could be better!
ii. I could be better
iii. I could do better
8) Often times in our relationship with Jesus
a. Things begin to get blurry
b. We begin to lose sight of what God is trying to do
c. In the middle of problems
i. We get focused on the problems
ii. We see all the negative things around us
iii. It is easy to just settle for this
iv. Grow content with the way things are
9) We can be doing all the right things but not seeing a change that we had expected
a) We read our bible
b) We go to church
c) We worship
d) But something is missing we don’t see the results that we were hoping for
e) Things become mechanical we start going through the motions
10) Sent him home and told him not to go into the village.
See the man didn’t live in the village
He didn’t belong in the village
Don’t go back to the village
Don’t go back to your old lifestyle
LOST:
Never received Jesus into your Life
Know something is missing
Jesus is saying come to me and I can heal you
BACKSLIDDEN:
Gone back to the Village old lifestyle
Jesus is saying come out of the village
Let me take you by the hand and restore you
SAVED:
Grown content with the way things are
You know it could be better
But begin to settle with the way things are
Lost first love
Need a second touch
Altar is Open
