Summary: Looking at our future with Christ.

DO YOU WANT YOUR FORTUNE TOLD? Ephesians 2:1-12

Charles Dederich is credited with the famous line, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”

II Corinthians 6:2 behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

I. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE REVEAL OF THE PAST OF ALL MEN?

1. HOPELESS “Dead in trespass and sin.” “Having no hope.”

2. HOMELESS – too comfortable

Without Christ, any person is homeless. "At that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the common wealth of Israel.”

Commonwealth here speaks of citizenship. They were not citizens so they didn’t enjoy the relationship with the God of Ireal.

3. GODLESS “Without God in this world.” A person who has never accepted Christ is without God.

II. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE REVEAL ABOUT THE PRESENT‘?

For the Christian:

1. The Christian is alive unto God. Ephesians 2:1 And you hath He quickened who were dead in trespasses and sin.

2. The Christian is reconciled unto God. Ephesians 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

For the sinner:

1. The sinner is condemned. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

2. The sinner us under the wrath of God. “But the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:18.

III. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE REVEAL ABOUT YOUR FUTURE?

For the Christian:

1. The Christian will be raptured. I Thessalonians 4:13-18. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:

2. The Christian will be judged.

II Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

3. The Christian will reign with Christ. Revelation 20:1-6 And shall reign with Christ for a thousand years.

4. The Christian will rejoice with Christ forever.

For the sinner:

1. The sinner must face death alone.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

2. The sinner must face the great white throne.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;

3. The sinner will be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
