Message Point: Long for the Lord not the things of this world.

Focus Passage: I John 2:15-17

Mat 6:32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Mat 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

LUSTS: Definition: Sinful longing; the inward sin which leads to the falling away from God (Rom_1:21). “Lust, the origin of sin, has its place in the heart, not of necessity, but because it is the centre of all moral forces and impulses and of spiritual activity.”

I. Passions

a. An unholy desire to fulfill the desires and appetites of the body

i. Sensual

ii. Hedonistic

iii. Excitement

II. Possessions

a. an inordinate desire for the finer things of life

i. The finest home, the best car the most up to date techno-toy, etc.

III. Pride

a. An unreasonable desire to be honored by the world: Hunting after honors, titles, and pedigrees; boasting of ancestry, family connections, great offices, honorable acquaintance, and the like.

Invitation:
