Genesis 48:8”When Israel saw Joseph's sons, he said, "Who are these?"

Self-pity would kill you! Those who fly solo have the strongest wings! Make note of this before you continue to read further, this is important point to learn from the sufferings of Joseph, who survived 13 years of imprisonment, loneliness, pain, agony and sufferings for something that he did not commit. God would fight the battle for you, don’t you ever think that God has forgotten you, never, He is aware of your tears, battle, struggle, anxiety and angst, He would step in at the right time to bail you out and prove your innocence as He did for Joseph. Say Amen.

Even after release from jail nowhere do we read that Joseph rushed back to Canaan to see his father and brothers, though he had easy access to chariots and his heart would have ached to see them, but Joseph was committed to work. His marriage to Asenath and the birth of his two sons everything happened in a foreign land without fun, fare, friends, relatives and own people, are you listening to me? Commitment requires sacrifice! A Leader cannot be an emotional person, he has to have an enlarged heart to put God and his mission first! Is anybody listening to me? I am alone here, no one for support, nobody cares about me, I have no shoulders to lean on …..all these grumblings are for the weak, a leader has to accomplish his work no matter what.

The Joseph that his father Israel met was no ordinary man but the Governor of Egypt and close associate of king Pharaoh and Jacob was not the same either, years had passed, by now Jacob was old and his eyes were dim. Well, the question ‘who are these?’ asked by Israel to his son Joseph squeezed my heart, because Jacob could not identify his own grandchildren, Joseph and his kids had lost precious years of being with Jacob while he was healthy. Joseph had brought up his kids alone in a foreign land, friend this is the price you pay for being an effective leader. Stop looking around for help, roll up your sleeves to fulfill your call! When the father of Bro Augustine Jebakumar, Founder of GEMS ministry, Bihar, visited Bihar for the first time, by then already his ministry was established with buildings, his father said: “you didn’t tell me that you are doing such a big ministry here, it looks huge.’” This statement meant, Bro Augustine Jebakumar struggled alone with his wife and family and fulfilled his ministry, in fact, he was not there even for his father’s death, he reached Bihar only after few days.
