Summary: Do we have enough of God to make it to Heaven?

Do I have enough? Job 42:10-17

1. It’s a question we all wonder about do I have enough to make it?

• Do I have enough to retire?

• Do I have enough to get through life with my health?

• Do I have enough to get to heaven?

2. People in Bible who wondered do I have enough

• Moses said, Who am I that I should go?” he asked. God responded, “I will be with you and promise to bring you to worship on this mountain.”

• “What if they do not believe me or listen to me?” God demonstrated he would use miracles and signs to show proof. (Exodus 4:1-9)

• “I have never been eloquent...I am slow of speech and tongue.” God responded, “Who gave human beings their mouths?... Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you and teach you what to say.” (Exodus 4:10-12)

3. Gideon felt he was too weak for the task. I don’t have enough

• The angle told Gideon, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14)

• Gideon replied, “’How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family’ The LORD answered, ‘I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive’” (Judges 6:15-16).

4. Jeremiah felt his youth kept him from having enough

• God said to the prophet Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

• Jeremiah answered, “Alas, Sovereign LORD...I do not know how to speak; I am too young” (Jeremiah 1:5-6).

5. Job wondered did he have enough because everything was taken away

• Job lost his oxen, donkeys, sheep, servants, camels, seven sons, three daughters and his health in one terrible day He had sores and boils from the top of his head to the soles of his feet and was as skinny as a fiddle string

• Job was confused, He wondered do I have enough faith to make it

• Job wonders do I have enough to get me through these losses

6. We could say God answered Jobs conscience or God answered his concerns

• When Job was running on fumes God gave twice as much as he had before

• When Job wondered if he had enough family 11 Then there came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and they ate bread with him in his house

• When Job wondered about retirement and would he have enough in his older age 12 The LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning, and he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand donkeys

• When Jobs household was not enough. God filled the household of Job which helped him cope with the void. 13 He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 He named the first Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch. 15 In all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters

• Job wondered will I live long enough to see my children and grandchildren . 16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years and saw his children and his children’s children, four generations.

• Job probably wondered do I have enough health to survive 17 And Job died, old and full of days.

• Job wondered if he had enough salvation 25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

7. Don’t worry about do I have enough worry Do I believe, Do I trust, Do I serve God, Do I love God, Do I fear the Lord The Psalmist says, Fear the Lord, you his holy people for those who fear him lack nothing.
