Summary: how we know God’s will
Psalms 25.4,5 Divine Guidance
Everybody needs guidance in our life. Because we don’t know what is going to happen to us tomorrow. So we pray to know God’s will.
I. The foundation of finding God’s will is to obey the General Will of God.
What is God’s general will?
Everyone have to repent and to be saved….Mathew 9.13 2 Pet.3.9 Rev.22.17
Acts 17.30
Everyone should do this; God gave them the opportunity for that.
It is an amazing thing how many people consider themselves Christians who don’t consult Christ when making choices.
You cannot be saved from sin by the Christ of the Bible if you reject the Christ of the Bible.
The Christ of the Bible is an authoritative Adviser as well as an atoning Savior.
Jesus is Lord and Savior .Salvation has two aspects .Receiving the forgiveness of Christ and Accepting him as your Lord.
The only way to salvation is Trust in the true God, not an imaginary half-god who offers merciful forgiveness and unacceptable advice.
There are three specific categories of God’s Will.
1. God’s Sovereign Will …Psalms 115.3
God has predetermined plan for everything that happens in the universe
He is working behind the history.. It is His story.
2. God’s moral Will ….
Moral commands revealed in the Bible.
Bible is God’s revelation in which He unfolds His moral will
The principles which we are to live “It is written”
3. God’s Will for each individual …
The specific, ideal, detailed, perfect plan for each situation in each individual’s life...
2things about God’s will
God’s perfect will ---------- what God wants in our life
No matter the outcome we should obey
Jesus’ prayer at Gethsemane
God’s permissive will --------- we need what ever we desires
Israel for a king, prodigal son
To whom the guidance needed?
Those who are moving according to the directions of God …
If you sit and steer a parked car; you don’t need any direction.
What kind of people does God guide ?
1. Those that wait up on the Lord for HIS GUIDANCE v.3
You are not wasting time when you wait up on God.
2. Those who Glorify God v.1, 2
If you want His will for His glory He will show you the right path.
3. (v. 9)THOSE WHO ARE HUMBLE . "He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way."
God does not lead rebels.
Keep your eyes on the Lord .Let Him have His way.
He knows what He is doing where He is going, so follow Him by faith.
4. Those who keep the covenant . "All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies."
What kind of people does God guide ?
