Matthew: Discover the Kingdom - The Mission

Jesus’ arrival on earth was the introduction of the Kingdom of God on earth. Jesus’ mission was to heal the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people, to destroy the works of the evil one, to teach the Way of the Kingdom and to establish the reign and rule of God. What is most shocking about Jesus’ ministry was that he drafted a group of rag-tag, Jewish men to help. Jesus’ mission became their mission and together they transformed the world.

The same invitation is offered to us today. Jesus wants us to join in his mission to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.

Introduction

Begin the service by showing some well-known company logos and ask the audience the mission of each of the companies you choose. Show each logo individually and receive feedback before reading the actual mission. Focus on how hard each company works to keep their mission the forefront of their business. Consider companies like Starbucks, Google, IKEA, etc. How do these mission statements impact the employees as well as the customers? How much more important is the mission of Jesus than these? And more importantly, how important is it that those in the Kingdom are motivated by the mission?
