DIMENSIONS OF GRACE
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: John 1:16
Supporting Texts: Acts 4:33, 2 Corinthians 9:14, Ephesians 2:8, James 4:6, 2 Peter 3:18
INTRODUCTION:
Grace is the foundation of the Christian life. Without grace, salvation is impossible. Yet grace is not static—it can grow, increase, and multiply. John 1:16 reveals that from Christ’s fullness, we receive grace upon grace, indicating dimensions or levels of grace. This sermon explores three key levels: Grace, Great Grace, and Exceeding Grace, and how believers can move into deeper realms of God’s favour and empowerment.
1. GRACE – THE ENTRY LEVEL
a) Grace brings salvation
Grace is the starting point of our relationship with God (Ephesians 2:8).
b) Grace is a gift, not a reward
It is unmerited and cannot be earned by works (Romans 11:6).
c) Grace changes our position before God
It justifies and reconciles us to God (Romans 5:1).
d) Grace teaches righteous living
It empowers us to deny ungodliness (Titus 2:11-12).
e) Biblical Example: The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:39–43)
He received saving grace moments before death.
2. GREAT GRACE – THE EMPOWERING LEVEL
a) Great grace empowers for ministry
The apostles operated under great grace, performing signs and wonders (Acts 4:33).
b) Great grace brings divine boldness and favour
Believers walk in extraordinary spiritual authority (Acts 4:31-33).
c) Great grace causes supernatural increase
It brings multiplication and favour with men (Acts 2:47).
d) Great grace separates you from average believers
It distinguishes those who are sold out to God’s mission.
e) Biblical Example: Stephen, full of grace and power (Acts 6:8)
He did great wonders among the people because of great grace.
3. EXCEEDING GRACE – THE OVERFLOWING DIMENSION
a) Exceeding grace brings abundance in all things
God is able to make all grace abound (2 Corinthians 9:8).
b) Exceeding grace manifests in supernatural supply
You become a channel of blessings (Philippians 4:19).
c) Exceeding grace reveals deeper intimacy with God
You become highly favoured and spiritually sensitive.
d) Exceeding grace turns you into a blessing carrier
Your life becomes a testimony of divine overflow.
e) Biblical Example: Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 15:10)
He acknowledged that he laboured more abundantly by the exceeding grace of God.
CONCLUSION:
Every believer starts with grace, but not everyone experiences great grace or exceeding grace. As we yield to God, grow in faith, and walk in obedience, we can ascend into deeper dimensions. The more grace we carry, the more impactful and victorious our lives will be.
