Dig A Well

Summary: Sometimes life has a way of clogging up our spiritual arteries and the flow of Gods power is all but shut off, thats when we must dig a well.
Gen 26:1, 26:3, 26:12-16
Famine in the land.
Amos 8:11
11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Famine here is not an absence or shortage of the bible or commentaries., but rather an absence and shortage of hearing the words of the Lord. Information vs. revelation.
(The prodigal son)
Luke15:14 And when he had spent all,
Spent all: wasted his substance, had depleted his supply, (You can go for a little while on what you got in the bag, but eventually you have got to get filled up again.)God told Samuel-Arise and fill thine horn with oil.
There arose a mighty famine in that land;
He began to be in want.
to fall short (be deficient): -- come behind (short), be destitute, fail, lack,
1) to be left behind in the race and so fail to reach the goal, to fall short of the end
2) to fail to become a partaker,
Many Christians, are in a time of famine, and do not realize it. Partly because the ministries they are under are dead, and empty, and partly because, they are satisfied there.
Gen 26:3
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Gen 26:12
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
Many times we’re guilty of running from one place to another to find, spiritual strength, and life. But the greatest testimony of God’s faithfulness, and power is for you to be the tool God uses to break the famine.
Gen 26:14-16
For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
When the devil sees God blessing you, he will do all he can to steal it from you,.
The wells =the Spirits flowing and refreshing presence in our lives.
I believe that satan targets the Holy Spirits presence and operation in our lives, His design is to quench the Spirits operation in us and through us.
Earth = natural, carnal, earthly things. (The lust of other things, choked the word)
Fear, anger, bitterness, resentment, criticism, selfishness. Business, pride, jealousy,
Who stopped his wells?
(The Philistines):
a primitive root; to roll (in dust): (wallow self).
This tells me that ultimately it is self that robs us of the presence and power of God, not the devil.. He may initiate it. But only you can quench the Holy Spirit in your life.
He may offer it, but it’s up to you whether it gets in the well or not
Isaac digged again the wells that had been opened in the days of his father : Re establishing the foundation and the integrity of our faith, demonstrated by our forefathers.
Then his servants dug new wells:
We need to regain any ground we’ve lost, re-establish the principle foundation of our faith, repair and restore any cracks in the foundation.
New wells. There are facets of God, and revelations, of his word that have never been known yet. There are wells of revelation, wells of joy, and wells of healing, and wells of deliverance that are waiting for you and I to dig them.
The water is there, like an underground river, but will we tap into it?
Or will we say: I can’t dig a well here, the ground is too hard, there’s a famine in the land.
Ps. 84:5-6 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
In digging these new wells they met with opposition
Satan always opposes the desire and the effort to move forward.
You can choose to avoid the battle by doing nothing
But 4 Lepers in the bible told us, that if we don’t get up and get moving we will die where we sit.
As for me: I choose to dig some wells,.
Well digging is hard work, sowing in the time of famine is hard work,.
But Be not deceived God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.
Don’t just sit there, Dig a well.
