Youth Sermon: Devoted to Teaching

Learning and the Early Church

Today, we're going to dive into how the early church kept it real with their faith. They were all in, 100%, no holding back. In Acts 2:42, we see they were all about four things: learning, hanging out together, sharing meals, and praying. Sounds a lot like what we do, right?

Let's talk about learning. You know how in school, some subjects are a breeze, and others feel like you're climbing Mount Everest? Well, the early church was all about learning, but not just any learning - they were into learning about God's Word. And just like in school, it takes effort and focus, but the payoff is huge - a deeper understanding of God and a stronger relationship with Him.

Imagine you're playing a video game, and you've got this super cool, powerful weapon. But you don't know how to use it, so it's just sitting there in your inventory. That's like the Bible. It's our super powerful weapon, but if we don't learn how to use it, it's not going to do us much good.

They were all in, 100%, no holding back.

Sharing the Faith

Paul told his buddy Timothy to pass on what he learned to others who could teach even more people. It's like a game of telephone, but with the most important message ever. We don't have to be Bible scholars or have all the answers; we just need to be willing to share what we know about Jesus.

If you're not sure where to start, join a youth Bible study or get a daily devotional. If you want to share your faith, start with the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They're all about Jesus and His good news. And remember, all Scripture is useful for teaching and training in righteousness. Be patient with yourself and others as you learn and grow.

Going All In

The early church was all in with their faith. What about us? What are we all in for? If we've gotten off track, it's time to hit the reset button. God is always ready to welcome us back, just like the dad in the story of the prodigal son. So, let's refocus on Jesus, dig into the Bible, and go all in for Him.

Let's pray together.
