ISRAEL HAD YET TO CROSS THE JORDON INTO THE PROMISED LAND. MOSES, THROUGH SONG, GAVE FURTHER INSTRUCTION REGARDING THE LAW AND THE NEED TO CONTINUE BELIEVING AND OBSERVING ITS DIRECTIVES.

KEY VERSE DEUTERONOMY 4:2 “YOU SHALL NOT ADD TO THE WORD WHICH I COMMAND YOU, NOR TAKE FROM IT, THAT YOU MAY KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD YOUR GOD WHICH I COMMAND YOU.”

EXPOSITION ON DEUTERONOMY 32: 44-47:

ALTHOUGH THE LAW WAS FULFILLED IN CHRIST, IT WAS PARAMOUNT FOR THEM TO EMBRACE THE LAW UNTIL CHRIST CAME. THIS SONG OF MOSES REITERATES THE OBSERVANCE OF THE LAW UNTIL CHRIST CAME. READ GALATIANS 3: 19-26

ADDITIONAL REFERENCES: ROMANS 3: 20-26, ROMANS 5: 20-21, ROMANS 7:7-12

MOSES STRESSED NOT ONLY TO TAKE THE SONG TO HEART BUT ALSO THE WORDING OF THE LAW. HE WANTED THEM TO TAKE THE MATTER SERIOUSLY AND NOT THINK OF THE LAW AS SOME FLIPPANT MATTER OF HUMAN OPINION.

READ PSALMS 119: 30-33

PSALMS 119:105: “YOUR WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH.:

PROVERBS 6:23: “FOR THE COMMANDMENT IS A LAMP, AND THE LAW A LIGHT; REPROOFS OF INSTRUCTION ARE THE WAY OF LIFE.”

REF: DEUTERONOMY 30: 10-15

MOSES VIEWED ONLY WHAT HE MAY HAVE POSSESSED. PERHAPS THIS IS WHY HE WAS SO INTENT ON THOSE WHO PASSED OVER TO THE PROMISED LAND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. OBEDIENCE WAS IMPERATIVE FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIFE IN THE PROMISED LAND.

MOSES WAS NOT SPEAKING OUT OF THE VANITY OF HIS MIND. HIS SONG WAS DIRECTIVE, BLESSINGS FOLLOW OBEDIENCE. HIS WILL IS YOUR VERY LIFE.

GOD WORD IS NOT MEANT FOR CASUAL, ENTERTAINING READING; IT IS TO READ AND OBEY.

THE WORD OF GOD IS THE LIFE OF HIS PEOPLE. IT WAS FOR ISRAEL AND TO YOU TODAY!

APPLICATION: GOD’S WORD IS LIFE: IT IS ALIVE AND POWERFUL. HEBREWS 4: 12 “THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD, AND PIERCING AS FAR AS THE DIVISION OF SOUL AND SPIRIT, OF BOTH JOINTS AND MORROW, AND ABLE TO JUDGE THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART.”
