DEMONSTRATING YOUR POWER SOURCE-III—1Corinthians 2:1-16

Attention:

Wrong!

A husband stepped on one of those dime scales that tell you your fortune & weight & dropped in a coin. It spat out a card & he says, “Listen to this honey,” he said confidently to his wife, showing her a small, white card. “It says I'm energetic, bright, resourceful & a great person.”

"Yeah," his wife nodded, "& it has your weight wrong, too."

The husband’s Power Source was flawed!

Need:

The Power Source of the one who trusts in Christ is NEVER flawed!

Paul demonstrated/confirmed the Spirit’s power thru his manner of witness to the church at Corinth.

Christians demonstrate/confirm their power source.

How/When is a Christian’s power source confirmed/demonstrated?

5 confirmations/demonstration of one’s power source.

We found earlier this month that

My power source is demonstrated/confirmed when I...

1. FORGO The SHOW(:1)

2. FOCUS KNOWLEDGE(:2)

3. ENABLE INABILITY(:3) Sense/Feel

4. INTEGRATE REVELATION(:4)

5. SEGREGATE FAITH(:5)

6. ACCESS MATURITY(:6a)

7. ACCESS DEFINITIVE(God’s) WISDOM(:6b-9)

8—My power source is demonstrated/confirmed when I...

ACCESS God’s HEART(:10-11)

Explanation:(:10-11) God’s Heart/Revelation

:10—“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

No man has conceived of the things of God apart from God’s manifold revelation. It is only “through His Spirit” that we encounter & hold to God’s revelation.

This is true because “the Spirit” Himself is the one who actively “searches” & knows every aspect of God’s person, even God’s “depths.”

These things are now revealed.

God has revealed them. He revealed them through the Spirit.

Apart from the Spirit of God, these things are still hidden.

The Spirit searches all things.

The Spirit searches the depths of God. He is able to determine God’s wisdom(Duh!) hidden from man.

If we maintain that we have the Spirit present within, then we have access to the depths of God for the Spirit can reveal them to us.

We have the potential to know all that God wants us to know simply because the Spirit of God lives within us & speaks with us!

“Revealed”—apokaluptw—1) To uncover, lay open what has been veiled or covered up—1a) Disclose, make bare; 2) To make known, make manifest, disclose what before was unknown. Apokaluptw is an internal disclosure, to the thinking believer, & abiding. The apokaluptw or "unveiling" precedes & produces the fanerow or "manifestation"; the former looks toward the object revealed, the latter toward the persons to whom the revelation is made. Strong—To take off the cover, i.e. Disclose.

“Through”—dia—

“Spirit”2X(See :4, 11)—pneuma—

“Searches”—eraunaw—1) To search, examine into. Strong—apparently from erew[to utter, i.e. speak or say] (through the idea of inquiry); To seek, i.e. figuratively--To investigate. Used 6X.

“All”(See :15)—pav—Adj.—1) individually—1a) Each, every, any, all, the whole, everyone, all things, everything; 2) collectively—2a) Some of all types. Strong—apparently a primary word; All, any, every, the whole.

“Deep/Depths”—bayov—1) Depth, height—1a) Of "the deep" sea,1b) metaph.—1b1) Deep, extreme, poverty, 1b2) Of the deep things of God. Profundity, i.e. by implication--Extent; figuratively--Mystery. Used 9X.

:11—“For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”

The relationship of the human “spirit” aptly pictures this relationship regarding the Holy Spirit to God. Thus unless a person receives knowledge of God thru the Holy Spirit, he/she does not truly ‘know’ God. Without the Spirit of God’s personal revelation to the believer, his/her relationship to God can only remain distant.

Only a man’s “spirit” knows his thoughts. At death, your “spirit”(the essence of who you are) goes to either heaven or hell.

The “spirit” of a man is a distinguishable constituent of the human makeup.

If we can link up with the spirit of a man—thru hearing him speak, watching his actions...—then we can understand his nature & desires.

Likewise if we can link-up with the Spirit of God—Whom we receive thru trust in Christ—then we have the means of understanding God’s nature & His desires for us.

“Knows”2X(See :2, 8, 14)—eidw—Perfect Active Indicative—

“Except”2X(See :2)—ei mh—

“Spirit”2X(See :4, 10)— pneuma—

“the Things”—ta tou—Article—1) This, that, these, etc. Strong—The, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc..

Argumentation:

Amos 3:7—“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”

**Col. 1:24-2:4—“I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, & fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden from ages & from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man & teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you & those in Laodicea, & for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, & attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father & of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom & knowledge. Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.”
