Summary: A three point outline of the three fold power of a delevering God

Delivered By God – 2 Corinthians 1:1-10

#10 – Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he

will yet deliver us:

~ Who delivered us from so great a death – (PAST)

Paul, needed to be rescued from such a death as a kind of resurrection, and he felt that he owed his life to God, as if he raised him from the dead. Paul is telling us that it is by his wonderful mercy that we live. God could have wiped us all out!

Justification: it is a divine act whereby a Holy God declares a believing sinner to be righteous and acceptable before him. “why”? Because Christ has bore the sinner’s sin on the cross.

This is an act of God:

Romans 8:33 Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect?

It is God that justifieth.

This happens by the Blood:

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved

from wrath through him.

It is in the name of Christ:

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are

sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus,

and by the Spirit of our God.

It is by Christ:

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in

Christ Jesus

~ And doth deliver - (NOW)

Paul is telling us that Christ still is continuing to deliver us right now, or preserve us. Like Paul we are daily exposed to danger and devices of the devil and need the Lord to work in our lives. Paul is encouraging us that Christ is still able!

Sanctification: is to be separated from the secular and sinful for a sacred purpose.

How:

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

It is God’s will:

I Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that you

should abstain from fornication:

By God:

Leviticus 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them, I am the Lord which

sanctify you.

I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly (completely)

and I pray God your whole (complete) spirit, soul, and body

be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus

Christ.

~ In whom we trust that he will yet deliver us - (FUTURE)

Paul closes this verse with confidence to us all: stating that God has not just done things for us in the past and present, but will continue to do so. Although exposed to danger, he will continue to defend us, guard us, and keep us.

Glorification:

How:

Colossians 3:4 When Christ who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear

with him in glory

Why:

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs: heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ:

if so be that we suffer with him, that we be also glorified together.

When:

Read 1Thessalonians 4:13-17

NOTICE THIS:

The deliver is God

Paul was delivered

And in the future there is deliverance for the saints

NOTICE THIS:

That is was God alone that did the work

NOTICE THIS:

Our former experience ought to encourage us to future dependence in Him, and

then we can say……

GOD HAS

GOD DOES

AND YET WILL DELIVER!
