Deliverance From The Lord

I. EXORDIUM:

Are you delivered from your enemies?

Not yet, but I believe someday because GOD promised it.

Jeremiah 15:21 (Amplified Bible)

15:21 And I will deliver you out of the hands of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the palms of the terrible and ruthless tyrants.

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that we need to live by GOD's promises of deliverance from our enemies and not to those who want to lord over us by always faith in His promises more than circumstances we see.

IV. TEXT:

1 Samuel 17:37 (Amplified Bible)

17:37 David said, The Lord Who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the Lord be with you!

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have delivered me from my enemies for You are with me.

Deliverance from the LORD

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Authors: Samuel (Israel's last greatest judge) - some parts of it, Nathan and Gad (1 Samuel 10:25, 1 Chronicles 29:29) and some say it's Anonymous

Then Samuel told the people what the rights and duties of a king were. He wrote them down on a scroll and placed it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent the people home again.

1 Chronicles 29:29 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

All the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, are written in The Record of Samuel the Seer, The Record of Nathan the Prophet, and The Record of Gad the Seer.

B. Purpose of writing: Account of the history of Israel from 12th to 10th B.C.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Deliverance from wicked ruler/wicked enemies symbolized by lion, bear and Philistines

"David said, The Lord Who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine."

Proverbs 28:15 (Amplified Bible)

28:15 Like a roaring lion or a ravenous and charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

Paw is symbolized by "hand of our enemies".

Psalms 18:1 (Amplified Bible)

18:1 To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said: I LOVE You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength.

King David acknowledged the LORD who is our Strength and Helper who delivered us from our enemies.

Psalms 18:3 (Amplified Bible)

18:3 I will call upon the Lord, Who is to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

Our enemies are used by the LORD so that we will call upon Him frequently.

The enemies seem to be above and over us, but later on we will be delivered from their power and authority by the LORD.

2 Timothy 4:18 (Amplified Bible)

4:18 [And indeed] the Lord will certainly deliver and draw me to Himself from every assault of evil. He will preserve and bring me safe unto His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

Sure and guaranteed deliverance from our enemies are two ways: (1) either by rapture, or (2) death.

2 Corinthians 1:9-10 (Amplified Bible)

1:9 Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the [very] sentence of death, but that was to keep us from trusting in and depending on ourselves instead of on God Who raises the dead.

1:10 [For it is He] Who rescued and saved us from such a perilous death, and He will still rescue and save us; in and on Him we have set our hope (our joyful and confident expectation) that He will again deliver us [from danger and destruction and draw us to Himself],

As for me we are not yet delivered from our enemies it's a daily ongoing spiritual battle because the god of this world is still not GOD.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (Amplified Bible)

4:4 For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers’ minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image and Likeness of God.

Ephesians 2:2 (Amplified Bible)

You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God].
