To prove that wisdom is needed in dispensation of grace not knowledge.

So Saul, his three sons, his armor bearer, and his troops all died together that same day.

If you will not apply GOD's Words, it will only die.

VI. TITLE:

Death Of Law

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Authors: Samuel (Israel's last greatest judge) - some parts of it, Nathan and Gad (1 Samuel 10:25, 1 Chronicles 29:29) and some say it's Anonymous

Then Samuel told the people what the rights and duties of a king were. He wrote them down on a scroll and placed it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent the people home again.

All the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, are written in The Record of Samuel the Seer, The Record of Nathan the Prophet, and The Record of Gad the Seer.

B. Purpose of writing: Account of the history of Israel from 12th to 10th B.C.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. One day law (symbolized by King Saul) died along with knowledge (symbolized by Jonathan, friend of David) too.

1. Pride in knowledge must die so grace can come (1 Cor 8:1, 1 Cor 13:8, Eph 3:19)

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

2. Pride must not be the motivating factor but faith expressing itself in love.

B. All those who supported the law (symbolized by King Saul) will die thru it. (Galatians 2:19, Romans 6:11)

1. Knowledge to be appreciated must turn into wisdom, that is the application of knowledge. You need to experience GOD's goodness yourselves and not have theory about it only.
