NAHUM part 2

-Recap-

Nahum 1:12-15 (NIV)

12 This is what the LORD says: "Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, [O Judah,] I will afflict you no more.

13 Now I will break their yoke from your neck and tear your shackles away."

14 The LORD has given a command concerning you, [Nineveh]: "You will have no descendants to bear your name. I will destroy the carved images and cast idols that are in the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are vile."

15 Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, O Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.

12 they will be cut off and pass away.

14 "You will have no descendants to bear your name.

God is about to erase Assyria from existence

They are about to become extinct

This is divine, awesome judgement

God is not sending a windstorm or a minor disturbance

He is going to completely destroy Assyria

There will no reconstruction because there won’t be any descendants to rebuild.

We can take this portion of scripture in one of two ways:

1) Historical Context

-This is a really neat story of God rescued His people once again.

-One more time we how an Almighty God deals with His people

2) In the context of End Times events

-God is promising Judah that they will not be bothered by Assyria anymore

-There is coming a day when we won’t be bothered by sickness anymore

Pain will be a thing of the past

Sorrow, history

Depression, over

Canes & walkers, won’t need them anymore

Cancer, get out

Diabetes, you’re finished

God is going to wipe out sin and every srhead of evidence of it

The enemy of our soul will powerless to do anything about it.

So what should we do?

15 Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, O Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.

1) Bring Good news!!!!

Tell the story

Break the silence

2) Worship the Lord with a whole heart

Give honor and glory to the soon coming King
