3. Qualification: “The Lord seeth not as man seeth, man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7, KJV). “God … said, ‘I have found David … a man after My own heart’” (Acts 13:22).
CHAPTER 1: DAVID – FAITHFUL AS A YOUNG SHEPHERD
“I kept my father’s sheep … came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb … I went after … I caught him by his beard and smote him” (1 Samuel 17:34-35). He learned, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).
CHAPTER 2: DAVID – FAITHFULLY FOUGHT EVIL GOLIATH: 1 SAMUEL 17:1-58
Not David’s battle, but God was challenged. “Is there not a cause” (17:29). “He hast defied the armies of the Living God” (v. 36). “I come ... in the name of the LORD of Host … whom thou has defied” (v. 45). “David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone” (v. 50).

CHAPTER 4: DAVID FAITHFUL TO GOD’S CALLING, DIDN’T RUN AHEAD: 1 SAMUEL 26:1-5
Saul chased David with 3,000 men to kill him (26:2). “David came by night … Saul lay sleeping … his spear stuck in the ground … the Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed” (26:9-11). “David took the spear … cried to Abner … you are worthy to die” (26:12-16).
CHAPTER 5: DAVID – FAITHFUL AS A NEW KING
“The Lord said to David … ‘go up to Hebron there they (Judah) anointed David king’” (2 Samuel 2:1-4). “Come all the tribes of Israel to David … anointed David king” (2 Samuel 5:1-3). He made Jerusalem the capital and brought the Ark of the Covenant to the city.
CHAPTER 6: DAVID – FAITHFUL TO REPENT AFTER TERRIBLE SIN
“David sent Joab … to battle … David stayed in Jerusalem … he saw a woman washing … took her … lay with her … conceived … ‘I am with child’” (2 Samuel 11:1-5). David sent husband to her, he refused. If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
