According to all the works which they have done since I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, forsaking Me and serving other gods, so they also do to you.
1 Samuel 15:22 (Amplified Bible)
Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
VIII. MAIN BODY:
1 Samuel 16:21 (Amplified Bible)
And David came to Saul and served him. Saul became very fond of him, and he became his armor-bearer.
1 Samuel 16:21 (King James Version)
And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.
A. David came to Saul, stood before Saul
"And David came to Saul and served him."
Proverbs 22:29 (Amplified Bible)
Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
We can say that David's work and business is proven by his diligence and skillfulness that's why he's standing before King Saul. This will happen in my ministry as well, as GOD sees my work being done in diligence and skillfulness, He will allow me to stand in His Presence forevermore.
Obscure means "dark, mean" man. GOD will not allow me to stand before obscure, dark and mean man. The first job of David is being a shepherd, while his second job is armor-bearer of King Saul. Quick promotion, isn't it? GOD gives both the demotion (being a shepherd) and promotion (being an armor bearer to the king)
Psalms 75:6-7 (Amplified Bible)
For not from the east nor from the west nor from the south come promotion and lifting up.
But God is the Judge! He puts down one and lifts up another.
Promotion does not come from any man, that's why lip-service and eye-service is not even considered when you are being promoted by GOD. But it always happens like this, first demotion and then promotion, and in that order. Because GOD is testing your heart if you can qualify for higher jobs.
Luke 16:10 (Amplified Bible)
He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much.
Ephesians 6:6 (Amplified Bible)
Not in the way of eye-service [as if they were watching you] and only to please men, but as servants (slaves) of Christ, doing the will of God heartily and with your whole soul;
Peter is faithful in little things, like fishing, now he's entrusted with bigger things, fishing for souls of men.
Proverbs 11:30 (Amplified Bible)
The fruit of the [uncompromisingly] righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise captures human lives [for God, as a fisher of men—he gathers and receives them for eternity].
Matthew 4:19 (Amplified Bible)
And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!
