Introduction: Relate personal story of discovery of wife’s brain tumor.

I. The Deed (Adultery)

a. Lusted after Bathsheba

b. Slept with her

c. Got her pregnant

II. The Deception (Murder)

a. Couldn’t stand the guilt

b. Tried to get Uriah to sleep with her to cover up the deed

c. Uriah wouldn’t do it, so David had him killed in battle

d. David thought he got away with it

III. The Disclosure (Nathan)

a. Nathan dropped by with a problem

b. Nathan got David’s blood boiling with the story of the lamb

c. Nathan dropped the bomb on David and said the bad guy was him

IV. The Declaration (David’s Confession)

a. David owned up to his sin

b. David was truly contrite and wrote Psalm 51 to express his heart
