Psalm 63 David's Trust

1. David Seeking God -

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Seek God Earnestly - 1 O God, thou art my God;

Seek God Early - early will I seek thee:

In the early church, this psalm was read in the morning services

Seek God Eagerly - my soul thirsteth for thee,

Seek God Exclusively - my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

God Alone can Save, God Alone can Supply, God Alone can Satisfy.

2. David Seeing God -

2 to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

To See the Power of God - 2 to see thy power and thy glory

David did not need anything else but God.

To Sense the Presence of God - so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary

Exodus 25:21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. 22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

To Sing the Praise of God - 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

3. David Savoring God -

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;

and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

His Soul is Refreshed - 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;

His Song is Renewed - and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips

His Serenity is Restored - 6 when I remember thee upon my bed,

and meditate on thee in the night watches.

His Security is Revealed -

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Governed By God - 7 Because thou

Girded By God - 7 hast been my help,

Guarded By God - therefore in the shadow of thy wings

Gladdened By God - will I rejoice.

4. David Serving God -

His Pursuit - 8 My soul followeth hard after thee:

His Provision - 8 thy right hand upholdeth me.

His Persuasion -

9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

His Prediction - 10 They shall fall by the sword they shall be a portion for foxes.

5. David Sensing God -

11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory:

but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

1. God is my Desire (v1)

2. God is my Delight (v2-8)

3. God is my Defence (v9-10)

4. God is my Deliverer (v11)

Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
