DARKENS COUNSEL - GOD SPEAKS

The way God spoke to me, corrected me, advised me, questioned me, grilled me, examined me and challenged me was like what I read in Job 38: God Speaks Now to Job 1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, 2 "Who is this that darkens counsel By words without knowledge?” At the end of it all I broke down…Let me explain…

Life is a labyrinth of twists and turns, where we often find ourselves at crossroads, overwhelmed because of the crucial decisions we need to make daily; nevertheless, if we remain patient and alert, the counsel of God would reach us, it is what helps us make difficult choices. Did the Bible not say:” In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Amen. God reprimanded Job and said, ‘Who is this that darkens counsel?’ when we are not sensitive to the voice of God and assume noises as God’s voice then the counsel is darkened. A person without meticulous prayer life, disciplined Bible reading and fasting cannot discern the voice of God.

Series of issues, one after the other, from a particular family whose children were studying in our Abide School - free school run for the poor), problems of serious nature bothered me a lot and we decided to remove the students, I was explaining the problems to my husband in the car on the way to School and we were contemplating to remove about 6 children from two families; however, we were praying about it and waiting for God. God heard everything!!!

When I reached school, at the gate I saw a mother of another girl waiting to see me, they had also disobeyed the school rules, so she had come to speak to me. She was mother of 4 children, an elderly man and a young boy would come to drop and pick up her daughter studying in our school. The teachers and I thought that the old man and the boy were the real grand father and uncle of that girl since that is what they told the School authorities. However, she cried and said that she was an orphan, after her mother’s death, her dad had married again and left her. Her next door neighbor saw her difficulties as a young woman with 4 kids, came forward to help her and also treat her as their own daughter. As the young mother kept talking to me, my mind went back to the time that I had strongly spoken to the elderly man when he dropped the girl opposite the school road and I rebuked him and told him to be careful of the traffic, many such instances. He endured it all though he was not the real grandfather of the little girl, the young boy same way never uttered a word , they patiently helped a ‘young mother with 4 children’ without expecting nothing in return; in fact, they were facing problems because of this. Tears brimmed my eyes!

Actually I can feel Jesus stand there right in the midst of me and the young mother and ask me,’Bala, think of your behavior of wanting to remove 6 kids because they were intolerable but look at this uneducated family and the two men: old man and his young son, the way they serve their neighbor who needed help, even though they faced lot of inconvenience and problems because of this.’ I felt small like a worm.

I immediately called my husband to the room, broke down explained the entire episode and told him, ‘God dealt with me today!’

”And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3
