No Compromise Part 3

Daniel and the Den of Lions

July 3, 2022 Morning Service

Immanuel Baptist Church, Wagoner, OK

Rick Boyne

Message Point: We must be faithful to God no matter the consequences.

Focus Passage: Daniel 6:1-28

Introduction: When a new believer is baptized in China, they are asked if they are willing to die for their faith in Jesus Christ. If there is any hesitancy, the baptism is postponed until a time when they place their faith above their own life.

I. Character over Comfort

a. Integrity - No skeletons in the closet; nothing to hide

b. Exemplary life – everyone else around was simply mediocre (and jealous)

c. It is easy to compromise when certain behavior is the accepted norm. (Peer Pressure)

II. Discipline over Disorder

a. Vs. 10 says Daniel prayed 3 times a day AS HE HAD BEEN DOING.

b. Most failure can be traced to lack of discipline. (think of a sports team that isn’t disciplined, or a child)

c. Areas where we need more discipline: tongue (gossip), devotional life, church life

d. When we have a habit (discipline) to do the right thing, the right thing is easier to do when there is a decision to be made

III. Love over Life

a. Daniel knew about the law, but prayed anyway! Vs 10

b. He chose God over ambitions, peer pressure and even over life itself

c. How often do we choose the love of our own life over obedience to God?

Application/Call to Obedience: that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 NASB)
