Galatians 1:1-9

b. Summation - Galatians 5:1
3. No words of Congratulations or praise
a. Impassioned letter- strain of urgency
b. Galatians were in danger of moving
i. from the freedom of grace
ii. to the slavery of legalism
4. Judaizers had infiltrated their company
a. Paul’s gospel good – not enough
b. Supplement w/rituals & rules– then OK!!!
5. Purpose of Galatians 4 Fold
a. Expose false teachings of the Judaizers
b. Defend His Apostleship
c. Emphasize salvation by grace thru faith alone
d. Exhort Gal. to live in liberty
I. BE SURE OF YOUR GOSPEL! Vs. 1-5
A. REFLECTED IN THE MESSENGER
1. His Character- Paul 1a
a. For 30 + yrs. bore the name Saul
i. 1st King of Israel – Physically gifted
ii. Tragically flawed –Egotistically & Spirit
b. When Paul was Saul he too had problem
i. Persecuted the followers of Jesus
ii. voted for and party to stoning Stephen
2. His Call 1b an apostle-not of men, neither by man
a. Apostle – 2 requirements
i. Specifically selected by Jesus Christ
ii. Literally see the resurrected Jesus
iii. Eliminates today’s so called ‘Apostles’
b. by Jesus Christ, and God the Father
i. young Pastor – I’m not ‘called’ chose to
ii. Church of Christ Doctrine- vocation
iii. not called better stay out of the Pulpit
c. There Will Be Evidence of the Call
i. Recognition By God’s People
ii. Reluctance by the Called
iii. Revelation of God’s Gift
3. His Company 2a And all the Brethren
