Summary: Crying to the Lord.
Psalm 17 Crying to the Lord.
1. The Integrity of the Cry - 1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
2. The Intensity of the Cry - 1 attend unto my cry,
3. The Intent of the Crier - 3 Thou hast proved mine heart;
God Will Always -
i. Regard The Righteous - 1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
ii. Revenge The Righteous - Judgment Comes From -
The Presence of God Let my sentence come forth from thy presence
The Person of God - 2 let thine eyes behold the things that are equal
iii. Reassure The Righteous - 3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress
iv. Remind The Righteous -
God's Word Must Be Highest - 4 Concerning the works of men,
God's Word Must Be Heeded - 4 by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
v. Reinforce The Righteous - He Helps Our Walk -
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
He Hears Our Talk - 6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
4. The Ingredients of the Cry -
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
God Keeps The Believer -
In His Passion - 7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness,
In His Preservation - 7 O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
In His Protection - 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye,
In His Peace - 8 hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
5. The Inspiration for the Cry - 9 from the wicked that oppress me,
from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
6. The Indictment in the Cry -
Their Words - 10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
Their Ways - 11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
Their Works - 12 like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
7. The Interest of the Crier - 15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
The Appearance We Will See - As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness:
The Amenities We Will Savor - I shall be satisfied,
The Awareness We Will Share - when I awake, with thy likeness.
What a joy and satisfaction, Will be mine in that great day,
To awake in Christ’s perfection, Nevermore to see decay!
And the reason why I’m certain— Is I know Gods righteousness,
Through His Son, my Lord and Captain, Who absolved my sinfulness.
So I know, I shall behold Him, Unashamed and satisfied;
Then no longer a poor pilgrim, But a Christian—glorified
