Summary: Cry Out To Jesus
Psalms 119:145 -152 Cry Out To Jesus
I. The Psalmist's Dedication 145-146
A. His Passion in Prayer 145 I cried with my whole heart;
hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes.
James 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
B. His Promise in Prayer - “I will keep thy statues”
C. His Practice in Prayer - I cried with my whole heart "out” intensity;
The Psalmist desires for God to rescue him, but also to rule him.
II. The Psalmist's Determination - 147 - 148
A. The Anticipation Of The Morning - 147 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never no never, no never forsake.
B. The Meditation Of The Evening - 148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.
Psalms 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man ....... 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
III. The Psalmist's Deliberation - 149 Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to thy judgment.
He desires the Lord’s intervention because of :-
His grace, mercy, and His lovingkindness
Psalms 63:3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
IV. The Psalmist's Discrimination 150-151
A. The Enemies Outward Harm - 150 They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.
B. The Lord's Upward Help -
151 Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
V. The Psalmist's Declaration - 152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Psalms 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
