But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them],

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Reserved for us

"Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,"

1 Corinthians 9:25 (Amplified Bible)

Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.

James 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

1 Peter 5:4 (Amplified Bible)

And [then] when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror’s crown of glory.

It's laid up for us, the crown of righteousness has our name on it. It's only for us, reserved and appointed, and just waiting for us.

B. Rewarder: The Righteous Judge

"which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day"

Hebrews 12:23 (Amplified Bible)

And to the church (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to the God Who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect,

James 5:9 (Amplified Bible)

Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you [yourselves] may not be judged. Look! The Judge is [already] standing at the very door.

Acts 10:42 (Amplified Bible)

And He charged us to preach to the people and to bear solemn testimony that He is the God-appointed and God-ordained Judge of the living and the dead.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the GOD-appointed and GOD-ordained Judge of the living and the dead.

C. Receiver: To all who loved CHRIST

"but also to all who have longed for his appearing"

1 Corinthians 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].

Romans 8:23 (Amplified Bible)

And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the firstfruits of the [Holy] Spirit [a foretaste of the blissful things to come] groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies [from sensuality and the grave, which will reveal] our adoption (our manifestation as God’s sons).

Colossians 3:24 (Amplified Bible)

Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).

Revelation 22:12 (Amplified Bible)

Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit.

The reward is given to those who loved the LORD JESUS CHRIST socially and morally as LORD, MASTER and SAVIOR.

IX. CONCLUSION:

The crown of righteousness is reserved for us awarded by the LORD, to those who have loved Him.
