Creation Of Trees Series
Contributed by Jonathan Campbell on Oct 29, 2007 (message contributor)
Summary: This is an introductory message on trees of the Bible. It is based on the creation of trees recorded in Genesis 1:11.
Genesis 1:11 “God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
1. A HEALTHY PRODUCE
“the fruit tree yielding fruit”
God created a species of tree that would benefit our health. We see God’s desire to give His creatures that which is good. Today, we are continually reminded of the importance of fruit in our diet. The old adage still rings true - ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away.’
2. A HEAVENLY POWER
“God said, Let the earth bring forth…the fruit tree…And the earth brought forth…the tree yielding fruit”
God commanded and immediately it was done. What amazing power is seen here!
I sing th’almighty power of God
That made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad
And built the lofty skies.
I sing the goodness of the Lord
That filled the earth with food;
He formed the creatures with His word
And then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed
Wherever I turn my eye:
If I survey the ground I tread
Or gaze upon the sky!
There’s not a plant or flower below
But makes Thy glories known;
And clouds arise and tempests blow
By order from Thy throne.
3. A HAPPY PERSON
“God saw that it was good”
As the LORD looked back on the creation of trees, He was pleased. There was no flaw. It was perfect. Everything God does is perfect. What a contrast to ourselves! When we look back we are often filled with shame. Our sins cause us to blush. But, praise God, they are under the blood!
Calvary covers it all,
My past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair
Jesus took on Him there,
And Calvary covers it all.
