Created To Be Liberated!
Pastor Ken Crow
Luke 13:10-17 (King James Version)
10And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
1.
Many today are in an infirmity condition in this world. Many today are bound,
The word of God is full of people who once were bound . The Children of Israel bound by the grips of the Pharaoh in the first few chapters of Exodus but by chapter fifteen the Children of Israel are singing a song of liberation. It starts something like this.
Exodus 15:1-2 (King James Version)
Exodus 15
1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
It is time some of us in here this morning sing a song of liberation. It is time to be loosed, set free and to throw off the ropes and chains that prevent us from moving into the abundant life Jesus talks about in John 10:10!
2, If you will let’s look at the last part of verse 11 in our text of Luke 13.
“ And in no wise lift herself up.”
Some of us feel guilt.
Some of are burden and heavy laden.
Some of us have tried everything we know to try!
But we just can’t seem to get any peace.
We just can’t seem to get rid of the guilt.
No matter how hard we try we can not get loose from the bindings.
The harder we try the worse it seems to become!
And to try and lift ourselves up and not being able to accomplish that makes us feel even worse.
Jesus says :
Matthew 11:28-30 (King James Version)
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
This lady could not lift herself up. She spent day after day in her misery . Everyday seem to get worse.
As time went on the binding upon her just seem to grow deeper and deeper.
It probably happened a little at a time. It may have just began with a little twinge. She never thought she would end up like this.
Like the lady with the issue of blood she had sought the help of people to no avail.
Sometimes we seek someone who could just understand. But truth is we never truly find them. They nod their head in sympathy and agreement but truly the only one who really knows us is our creator. Really there are only three who know us totally. God the Father, Jesus the Son and The Holy Spirit.
People mean well and may understand to a certain degree but the only one who can fix me and loose me is the one who created me and knew me the Bible says before I was ever born and created me for a purpose.
Our lady with the infirmity was not created for this bound state she found herself in!
You and I were created to be liberated!
Some one needs to turn to their neighbor and say I was created tp be Liberated!
The children of Israel were not created to be slaves to Pharaoh but to serve God.
