INTRODUCTION:

In the beginning, God crowned His creative work by making man—not like the animals or celestial bodies, but in His own image and likeness. This reveals our inherent worth, purpose, and spiritual identity. Humanity was designed to reflect God’s nature in the world.

This divine image is not merely about physical traits but speaks of authority, morality, creativity, and relational capacity. Understanding this identity is key to living in dominion, dignity, and destiny.

Today, let us rediscover what it means to be made in the image of God.

1. THE IMAGE OF GOD MEANS INHERENT VALUE

a) You are not an accident.

God intentionally created you with purpose (Psalm 139:14).

b) Your worth is not defined by the world.

It is rooted in God’s design.

c) No one is more valuable than the other.

All humans bear the same divine stamp.

d) The image of God brings dignity to life.

Every life must be treated with respect and honour.

Biblical Example: God defended Abel’s worth by confronting Cain (Genesis 4:10).

2. GOD’S IMAGE MEANS WE ARE DESIGNED TO REFLECT HIS CHARACTER

a) Holiness is part of His image in us.

We are called to be holy like Him (1 Peter 1:15–16).

b) Love is a defining trait of God’s nature.

We must walk in love (1 John 4:7–8).

c) Truthfulness and integrity reflect God’s light.

His image cannot lie or deceive.

d) The fruit of the Spirit reflects the divine nature.

We are mirrors of heaven on earth.

Biblical Example: Joseph’s integrity in Egypt reflected godly character (Genesis 39:9).

3. GOD’S IMAGE GIVES US AUTHORITY ON EARTH

a) Dominion is rooted in identity.

God gave man rulership because of His image (Genesis 1:28).

b) You were born to influence and lead.

Not to live under oppression.

c) Satan attacks identity to steal authority.

Don’t trade your image for sin.

d) Rediscovering God’s image brings back dominion.

Authority flows from who you are in Him.

Biblical Example: Daniel stood in authority even in Babylon because of his identity (Daniel 6:3).

4. BEING MADE IN GOD’S IMAGE CALLS FOR RESPONSIBILITY

a) We are stewards of creation.

Our choices affect the world God gave us.

b) We must treat others with dignity.

Every person reflects God's image.

c) We should not defile the temple of God—our bodies.

Purity is part of our calling.

d) The image must be guarded, not distorted.

Sin disfigures what God has designed.

Biblical Example: Noah walked uprightly in a corrupt world (Genesis 6:9).

5. THE IMAGE OF GOD IS RESTORED THROUGH CHRIST

a) Sin damaged the image but didn’t erase it.

Redemption brings restoration (Romans 8:29).

b) Jesus is the express image of God.

We are being conformed to His likeness.

c) The new birth gives us a renewed image.

We are recreated in Christ (Ephesians 2:10).

d) Grow daily into the fullness of His image.

Through the Word and Spirit.

Biblical Example: Paul, once a persecutor, became a reflection of Christ (Galatians 1:23–24).

CONCLUSION:

You were created on purpose, for a purpose, and with a divine imprint. Your life is not random—it reflects the Creator. As we embrace this identity, we live with boldness, righteousness, and honour. Don’t let the world define you—live as God’s image-bearer.
