Understand God's purpose for our creation, our call to follow Jesus, and how our obedience to Him glorifies God.

Introduction

Good morning, family! Today, we're going dive deep into the heart of God's purpose for creation, our call to follow the Messiah, and how we can glorify God through obedience.

To kick things off, let me share a quote from Jerry Bridges. He once said, "The person who fears God seeks to live all of life to the glory of God... All the activities of life should be pursued with the aim of glorifying God." Isn't that powerful?

Let's turn now to our scripture for today, Isaiah 42:6-7. It reads,

"I am the LORD, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon, And those who dwell in darkness from the prison."

Let's pray.

Father God, we thank You for Your Word today. We ask that You open our hearts and minds so that we may fully understand and embrace Your purpose for us, the call to follow Your Son, and the path of obedience that brings You glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Now, let's dive into this together, shall we?

God's Purpose for Creation

God's purpose for creation is a concept that is deeply rooted in His love and His desire for relationship. When we consider the vastness of the universe, the intricacy of a single cell, the beauty of a sunrise, or the complexity of the human mind, we see a Creator who is not only immensely powerful but also incredibly detailed and personal.

Creation: The Bible tells us in Genesis that God created the heavens and the earth, and everything within them. He created light and darkness, land and sea, plants and animals. But when He created man, it was different. God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being. This intimate act of creation signifies a unique relationship between God and humanity. We are not just another part of His creation; we are the pinnacle of it, created in His image and likeness.

Beings with whom He could have a relationship: This is evident in the way He walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, conversing with them, teaching them, and enjoying their company. God didn't create us because He needed us; He is self-sufficient and lacks nothing. Instead, He created us out of His overflowing love, desiring to share His goodness with us and to enjoy our love in return.

God's response to humanity's fall into sin: When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they broke the perfect relationship they had with Him. But God, in His infinite love and mercy, set a plan in motion to restore that relationship. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, so that through faith in Him, we could be reconciled to God and experience the relationship for which we were created.

Extends to our purpose as individuals: We are not here by accident; God created each of us with a specific purpose in mind. He has given us gifts, talents, and abilities that are uniquely ours, and He desires for us to use them to serve Him and others. In doing so, we not only fulfill our purpose, but we also bring glory to God, which is the ultimate purpose of our lives.

See our own lives in a new light: We are not random products of evolution, but intentional creations of a loving God. We are not here to simply exist, but to live in relationship with our Creator, to serve Him and others, and to bring Him glory.

Touches every aspect of our lives: It speaks of His love, His desire for relationship, and His plan for redemption. It gives meaning to our existence and direction to our lives. It is a purpose that is both grand in scope and personal in application.
