Know therefore and recognize that this is an evil and bitter thing: [first,] you have forsaken the Lord your God; [second,] you are indifferent to Me and the fear of Me is not in you, says the Lord of hosts.

Jeremiah 31:33 (Amplified Bible)

31:33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. The Laws of GOD written on my heart and mind

"But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write it;"

Israel is "yisrael" in Hebrew meaning:

1. he will rule as GOD

2. Jisrael - symbolical name of Jacob

This verse actually refers to the second covenant that GOD will make with His people. Notice the phrase "first covenant" in verse 7, that's the context, when Paul quoted this exact verse. It's a covenant made with the church this time, for the church is the spiritual Israel of GOD. The laws of GOD are in our hearts and mind by rebirth.

Hebrews 8:7-10 (Amplified Bible)

8:7 For if that first covenant had been without defect, there would have been no room for another one or an attempt to institute another one.

8:8 However, He finds fault with them [showing its inadequacy] when He says, Behold, the days will come, says the Lord, when I will make and ratify a new covenant or agreement with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

8:9 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their forefathers on the day when I grasped them by the hand to help and relieve them and to lead them out from the land of Egypt, for they did not abide in My agreement with them, and so I withdrew My favor and disregarded them, says the Lord.

8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their minds, even upon their innermost thoughts and understanding, and engrave them upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (Amplified Bible)

5:17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

Ezekiel 11:19 (Amplified Bible)

11:19 And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God],

2 Corinthians 3:3 (Amplified Bible)

3:3 You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

But can this be? If the hearts and minds of Israel are stubborn? the answer is GOD will give new hearts and minds.

B. The LORD is my GOD and I am His people

"and I will be their God, and they will be My people"
