Conceals a matter

Proverbs 11:13 "A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

Faithful spirit is seldom found in today’s loud world, spilling beans (revealing secrets) is trendy and fashionable. On Wednesday (Oct. 25), New York Times revealed their updated Best Sellers List and Jada Pinkett Smith‘s new book “Worthy”, is now sitting at No. 3 on its Hardcover Nonfiction chart. Look at that! Jada Koren Pinkett Smith is an American actress and talk-show host married to Actor Will Smith. I don’t want to talk here about Hollywood or the Oscar slap of Will Smith; however, the shocking, candid, personal marital details revealed by Jada has provoked the public to rush for the book, not for its ‘healthy stuff or brilliance’ but for the personal life revealed. Not just Hollywood even highly educated professionals like retired Judges, politicians, celebrities release their ‘memoirs’ with sizzling details that happened during their tenor and also personal rifts are discussed publicly in the book that at times causes lot of ruckus. Promos are also released about these books, memoirs, talk shows that gives a sneak preview of the upcoming release that would give you ‘incomplete news of gossip’ so that you hunt gluttonously for the book to read the balance. This is salesmen trick! Horrible!

Don’t we regularly read today about breach of trust and exposure of highly confidential materials? Faithful spirit is hard to find today! Only a person who walks closely with Jesus can have this kind of spirit like Daniel. His regular prayers and commitment to live a holy life had built his character. Had he not been matured with a faithful spirit, Daniel could not have spiraled up to a good position in the kingdom. Higher officials cannot trust you with confidential matters, if you have a jabber mouth. Several years before when I was hired as a confidential secretary for the Vice President of that organization, the VP told me, ‘we hired you because we believe that Christians are trustworthy and honest people’. I had to fearfully remember those words throughout my service with them. Let me again remind you of our subject today:” he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

Let us pray like David: Psalms 141:3 “Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
