INTRODUCTION:
God is not distant, unfeeling, or uninterested in the state of man. From the very beginning, He has desired relationship, reconciliation, and restoration. The message of Isaiah 1:18 is a loving call from God’s heart to humanity. Despite how filthy or stained a life might be due to sin, God's grace makes forgiveness and cleansing possible.
This invitation, “Come now, and let us reason together,” is not a call to debate with God but a call to reflect, to consider, and to make the wise decision to turn away from sin and embrace His mercy. He wants us to come with our sins, our burdens, and our guilt, and exchange them for His righteousness.
Salvation is not earned—it is received. The greatest miracle in life is not healing, wealth, or fame, but the transformation of a sinner into a saint. Today, this same invitation is extended to all: Come to God through Christ, and receive a new beginning.
1. GOD INITIATES THE INVITATION
This call to reason originates from God, not man.
a) God Seeks Relationship (Genesis 3:9): From the Garden of Eden, God sought after Adam and Eve even after they sinned. His nature is relational, and He desires fellowship with man.
b) God Reaches Out in Love (Romans 5:8): God's love is proactive. He sent Christ to die for us before we ever repented.
c) God’s Desire is Fellowship, Not Separation (Revelation 3:20): He stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us to let Him in.
d) God’s Invitation is Urgent (Isaiah 55:6): We are to seek the Lord while He may be found, because time is limited.
Biblical Example – The story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) shows the father’s eagerness to receive his wayward child back.
2. MAN'S GREATEST PROBLEM IS SIN
Sin is the barrier that separates man from God.
a) Sin Stains the Soul (Isaiah 59:2): It breaks the connection between God and man, creating a spiritual wall.
b) Sin Brings Guilt and Shame (Psalm 38:4): The weight of sin can overwhelm and depress the human spirit.
c) Sin Leads to Death (Romans 6:23): The ultimate consequence of sin is eternal separation from God.
d) Sin Deceives and Destroys (James 1:15): It may appear attractive, but it ends in destruction.
Biblical Example – King Saul lost his place due to persistent disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22-23).
3. GOD OFFERS COMPLETE CLEANSING
No matter how red or deep your sin, God promises full forgiveness.
a) Forgiveness is Guaranteed (1 John 1:9): God is faithful and just to forgive when we confess.
b) Cleansing is Total (Psalm 51:7): God doesn't just cover sin; He washes it completely away.
c) Transformation is Real (2 Corinthians 5:17): A new life is possible in Christ for every believer.
d) God Delights in Mercy (Micah 7:18-19): He chooses to forgive and forget our sins.
Biblical Example – The thief on the cross received forgiveness and eternal life in his final moments (Luke 23:39-43).
4. SALVATION IS A PERSONAL DECISION
God invites, but you must respond.
a) You Must Come (Matthew 11:28): Jesus calls the weary and burdened to Himself.
b) You Must Believe (John 3:16): Faith in Christ is the doorway to eternal life.
c) You Must Confess (Romans 10:9-10): Verbal confession affirms our internal faith.
d) You Must Forsake Sin (Proverbs 28:13): There must be genuine repentance and turning away from iniquity.
Biblical Example – Zacchaeus responded immediately when Jesus called, and salvation came to his house (Luke 19:1-10).
5. GOD DESIRES A NEW LIFE FOR YOU
Salvation is the beginning of a transformed life.
a) New Identity (Galatians 2:20): The life we now live is by faith in the Son of God.
b) New Nature (Ezekiel 36:26): God gives us a heart of flesh and a new spirit.
c) New Purpose (Ephesians 2:10): We are saved to do the good works prepared for us.
d) New Destination (Philippians 3:20): Heaven becomes our eternal home.
Biblical Example – Paul, once a persecutor, became a mighty apostle (Acts 9:1-22).
CONCLUSION:
The love of God is seen in His willingness to reason with sinful man. Despite how far one has gone, He is still calling. His arms are open wide to receive the worst of sinners and transform them into vessels of honour.
Today is the day of salvation. Do not harden your heart. Accept His invitation, and begin the most important relationship of your life—one that lasts into eternity. The blood of Jesus can cleanse every sin and give you a brand-new start.
