Come And See

TEXT:John 1:43-46

"The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see."

COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF

When Jesus called Phillip, the first thing he did was to invite his friend, Nathaniel. He was sceptical, but Phillip insisted that he should come and see for himself. He did and saw the power and wisdom of God in Christ Jesus. His life never remained the same.

When you invite friends, family members and even complete strangers to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, they are sometimes sceptical because of what they have heard from nay sayers. It is important for us to insist that they come and see (experience) Jesus for themselves before they reject him. Phillip's excitement robbed off on Nathaniel and he went to see Jesus. The following conversation ensued:

Jesus (Phillip and Nathaniel approaching him): “Now here is a genuine son of Israel—a man of complete integrity.”

Nathaniel (mouth agape in shock): "How do you know about me?”

Jesus (smilling knowingly): "I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”

Nathaniel(exclaims): "Rabbi, you are the Son of God—the King of Israel!” (John 1:47-49 NLT)

Anyone that comes to Jesus is guaranteed to see the glory of God. An encounter with Jesus is life changing. The impart of Nathaniel's brief encounter with Jesus was astonishing. His sceptism dissolved immediately as he proclaimed Jesus as his Lord and Master, the son of God and King of Israel. What a turnaround.

COME AND SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Come and see is an invitation to enter into the life of God. An invitation to become a member of the household and family of God. You only need to accept the invitation to experience a turnaround in your life. John 1:12 says: "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Jesus is calling you to come. If you come, you will see and experience the kingdom of God. If you don't, you will not see God's kingdom and definitely will not experience it. Jesus said in John 3:3: “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” He is knocking at the door of your heart now. Open and let him enter. Your life will never be the same again.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Rev 3:20).

Come and see is an invitation to acknowledge, confess and forsake sin. Why not do so today and receive eternal life.

PRAYER:

Father, have mercy upon me. I confess my sins, please forgive me and accept me as your child in Jesus name.

CONFESSION:

God is my father. I am his child.
