Church on Sunday - Hell on Monday!

Is it possible to go to church every Sunday and die and go to Hell?

Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’ Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’ "

It is obvious from the word of God that some of us churchgoers are going to be very surprised when we die and stand before Jesus for judgment. We will be expecting to waltz into Heaven and we end up instead in the blazing fires of Hell. Talk about the ultimate shock! Now is the time to take stock of our lives to determine where we are headed before it’s too late. Assuming that I am heaven bound is a recipe for disaster.

What are some of the things according to the word of God that make us unfit for Heaven.

Revelation 3:15,16 "I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth."

Intellectual agreement or assent to the gospel is not enough. Anything less than a total commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of every aspect of our life is lukewarm and not worthy of the death of the Son of God on the cross for us. Anything less than a total

commitment to study and act on the word of God is lukewarm and not worthy of the death of our Savior for us. We are either totally for Jesus or totally on the way to Hell.

Luke 12:8,9 "I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God."

To believe in the Lord Jesus, but not share and profess that faith before anybody and everybody as needed, is not worthy of the death of our Savior for us and invites damnation.

Matthew 25:24-30 "Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.’ His master said to him in reply, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with

interest on my return? Throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’"

Everything we have is a gift from God. Our talents, our money, our abilities, everything is gift from the Master. He expects us to use it all wisely and to be fruitful for building up His kingdom here on earth. To not be fruitful for the Lord is to invite condemnation.

Matthew 24:37-39 "For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until

the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be (also) at the coming of the Son of Man."

There is no doubt that the devil has us all running around at an ever increasing pace. Life is just extremely fast for most of us. We have no time left over. We are "maxed out." Family dinners with everybody present are rare. We have no time for personal prayer with Jesus. Scripture study is unheard of. Who has time for that! We have precious little experience of the Father’s deep personal love and affection for us. We have no time for Him due to our busy schedules. Beware! The devil is leading that parade and it ends up in Hell!

Matthew 7:13,14 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few."

There is only one sure path to Heaven and most people are not on it. If our life is not radically different from just about everybody else around us these days, we are in trouble and are headed for Hell!
