Introduction

Good morning, beloved congregation. It is a joy and a privilege to stand before you today, as we gather together in unity, in faith, and in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today, we stand on the precipice of a profound revelation, a revelation that is as old as time itself, yet as fresh and as vital as the morning dew. It is the story of our Savior, the story of God's love, and the story of sacrifice and resurrection.

As we come together today, let us remember the words of the esteemed Tim Keller, who once said, "Christmas is telling you that you could never get to heaven on your own. God had to come to you." This, dear friends, is the essence of our faith. It is not just about receiving God's love, but also about living in a way that reflects His love to others.

Now, let us turn our hearts and minds to the Holy Scripture, Luke 2:1-20 [read text].

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day, for Your love and Your grace. We thank You for the gift of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we gather here today, we ask that You open our hearts and minds to Your word, that we may gain a deeper understanding of Your love, Your sacrifice, and Your resurrection. Guide us, Lord, as we seek to live our lives in a way that reflects Your love to others. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Today, dear friends, we will delve into the depths of our Savior's story, we will marvel at the magnitude of God's love, and we will stand in awe of the sacrifice and resurrection. We are not merely spectators in this story, but active participants, called to live out the love and grace we have received. So, let us embark on this journey together, with open hearts and open minds, ready to receive the blessings that God has in store for us.

Salvation through the Savior

In the humble town of Bethlehem, a child was born. This was the Son of God, sent to earth to fulfill a divine mission. The birth of Jesus marked the beginning of a new era, an era of grace and salvation. The Savior was born, not in a palace or a temple, but in a manger, a clear sign of His humble beginnings and His connection to the common people. His birth was announced not to the kings and the high priests, but to the shepherds, the humblest of all. This was a clear message that the Savior was for everyone, regardless of their social status or their past sins.

The birth of Jesus was a fulfillment of God's promise, a promise of salvation and eternal life. God sent His only Son to earth, not to condemn the world, but to save it. Through Jesus, we have been given a way to reconcile with God, to be forgiven of our sins, and to receive the gift of eternal life. This is the essence of salvation, the core of our Christian faith.

The shepherds, upon hearing the news of the Savior's birth, hurried to Bethlehem to see the baby. When they saw Him, they spread the word about what they had been told. This was the first evangelistic mission, the first spreading of the Good News. The shepherds, simple and uneducated as they were, became the first messengers of God's salvation. This shows us that anyone can be a messenger of God's love and salvation. We don't need to be theologians or scholars to spread the Good News. All we need is a heart that believes and a mouth that tells of what we have seen and heard.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. She was a witness to the miraculous birth of the Savior, and she kept all these memories in her heart. This shows us the importance of remembering and reflecting on God's works in our lives. We need to treasure up all the blessings and miracles we have received, and ponder them in our hearts. This will strengthen our faith and help us to remain steadfast in times of trials and tribulations.

The angels announced the birth of the Savior with a song of praise, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." This was a proclamation of the peace that the Savior would bring, a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that is not of this world. This peace is a result of our reconciliation with God, a result of our salvation. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we receive this peace, a peace that calms our hearts and minds in the midst of life's storms.
