Christianity Is A Unique Worldview Lesson 7 Series
Contributed by Elmer Towns on Aug 6, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: Theology is the study of God and His relation to the world. Doctrine is the teaching of Christianity from scriptures (just the Bible).
A. INTRODUCTION
1. Definition: Worldview is the phrase to describe your explanation of theology or doctrine.
2. Theology is the study of God and His relation to the world. ~Webster All sources. Doctrine is the teaching of Christianity from scriptures. Just the Bible.
3. Worldview is our interpretation of the world according to God’s Word.
4. False: “It does not matter if the events took place; it is what you believe that counts.” True: History took place whether you believe it or not. It is not your trusting, but the one you trust in. This explains why some Muslims and Buddhists seem to have more dedication (they have deep dedication to a false history of God).
Sincerely believing something does not make it true.
5. Questions: Where did man and the universe come from? What is the purpose of life? Why is there suffering and sickness in the world? Where is everything heading?
B. WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF MAN AND THE UNIVERSE?
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Gen. 1:1).
1. The facts of scripture parallel data in the natural world.
a. Everything was created by laws. Who was the law giver?
b. The inherent unity of humanity.
That man was created, not independent.
Man the highest in creation.
Man is limited and finite.
Man is nevertheless something wonderful.
c. Man has rationality (mind), sensibility (emotions) and will (power of choice), i.e., the image of God.
2. Four questions evolutionist must answer.
a. Where is the missing link, i.e., between human, 2200 c.c., and highest primate, 1400 c.c.
b. If evolution occurs through process of mutations, how can man represent the apex of all living things? (Mutations result in an inferior derivation).
c. Why cannot science identify the origin of life? They cannot explain the jump from nothing into the lowest form of life. Christians believe God created Ex nihilo “out of nothing.”
d. Since evolution is an unverified hypothesis, why are they so adamantly opposed to considering data from intelligent design?
C. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?
1. What is the chief end of man? “To glorify God and enjoy Him forever” (John 4:23).
2. The universal testimony of believers. “For to me to live is Christ and to died is gain” (Phil. 1:21).
3. Christians live in a theocentric world, not an anthropocentric world.
D. WHY IS THERE SUFFERING AND SICKNESS IN THE WORLD?
1. Man was created perfect; God could do no other.
2. Man had freedom to fail; otherwise man’s worship was meaningless.
3. Man was warned, “of every tree in the garden thou mightest freely eat, but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shall not eat of it . . . thou shalt surely die” (Gen. 2:17). “Surely die” in the Hebrew is dying (process); you will die (event).
4. Disease produces poison that can lead to pain or death.
5. Man’s freedom is a centrifugal force that pulls him away from God, the center of life. God uses conviction, failure and pain as a centripetal force to constantly draw man to Himself.
E. WHERE IS EVERYTHING HEADED?
1. Believers go to live with God at death. “To be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8).
2. Unbelievers will be punished. “It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb. 9:27).
3. God has prepared a place for believers. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away” (Rev. 21:1).
4. The essence of heaven is God himself. “Behold the tabernacle of God is with man, and He will dwell with them . . . and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God” (Rev. 21:3).
If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
