Summary: Jesus is a perfect balance of every quality.

A. INTRODUCTION

1. Christ became a real man. The world saw Him as “the carpenter’s son” (Mark 6:3). Yet He was perfection in every way, at every stage of growth, and in every circumstance of life.

2. Christ mixed freely and naturally with imperfect people, yet “They saw no beauty in him that they desire him” (Isa. 53:2).

3. Christ was wonderfully balanced in personality, character and actions. Christ had neither excuse nor deficiency. No one strength stands out and no weakness can be seen.

4. Perfect speech. He never spoke when He should have been quiet, He never kept silent when He should have spoken.

5. Perfect response. He always spoke the truth in love. His truth condemned, but He loved the condemned, and His love encouraged the obstinate.

6. Perfect emotions. His inner strength was never obstinacy. His sympathy never “mushy emotions.”

7. Perfect balance. Most men are known for one strength – Moses for meekness, Job for patience, Elijah for boldness. In Jesus is a perfect balance of every quality. We cannot improve Him, redefine Him, nor tone down any extravagance, nor re-adjust Him. He is perfect.

B. PERFECT CHARACTER

1. He never apologized for a mistake.

2. He confessed no sins nor asked for forgiveness.

3. No word had to be taken back or re-defined.

4. He asked many questions, but never asked for advice.

5. He never requested prayer for Himself.

C.HIS PREEXISTENCE

1. His human birth in Bethlehem was not His origin, only His incarnation. “The word became flesh” (John 1:14).

2. If He is not pre-existent He is not God and the Creator.

3. Jesus knew He previously existed. “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world” (John 16:27-28). He prayed for the glory He had with the Father before the world existed (John 17:5).

4. Jesus knew He came from heaven, “Who came down from heaven” (John 3:13).

5. The Pharisees said, “Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:57-58).

6. Paul said, “He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” (Col. 1:17).

D. HIS INCARNATION

1. There is a universal longing in the human to make God tangible and visible, i.e., an idol. “He became flesh.”

2. Jesus said, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9).

3. The presence of a sinless man in the midst of sinful men demanded a miracle of origin. The question of the HOW of the birth became the WHO of the birth. The pre-existence of Christ demanded a supernatural birth.

4. The virgin birth doesn’t mean He was born in a different manner, but from a different source. “A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Is. 7:14).

5. Jesus was miraculously conceived in the womb of Mary.

6. The incarnation means God took on human flesh. “He became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14).

E. HIS EARTHLY LIFE

1. Jesus had perfect human development in four areas. “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52)

Wisdom = mental growth

Stature = physical growth

God = spiritual growth

Man = social growth

2. He learned the trade of a carpenter. “Is not this the carpenter?” (Mark 6:3).

3. He was baptized even though John the Baptist didn’t want to do it. “Jesus said, It must be done because we must do everything that is right” (Matt. 3:15, NLT).

4. He was tempted in every part of His humanity, yet He was without sin. “Tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15).

Hungry – lust of the flesh

Kingdoms – lust of the eyes

Rescued – pride of life

F. HIS DEITY

1. If Jesus is not God, then there is no Christianity.

2. “If ever a man was God, or God was a man, Jesus Christ was both” -Lord Byron.

3. If He is not God, then he is a blasphemer, and He is not even good. He is a shameless imposter.

If man invented Christ, why has he not improved on Him?

If man invented Christ, why has he not invented another?

Man could not have invented Christ, if given the ability.

Man would not have invented Christ, if given the opportunity.

4. Christ is deity because:

a. His many names of deity (Savior, Redeemer, Lord, God).

b. His many claims, the I AM claims, etc.

c. His miracles, His omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotent power.

d. He received worship, the prerogative of deity.

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:
