Summary: EXPOSITION OF CHRISTAIN LOVE USING 1 CORINTHIANS 13 V 1

1 Corinthians 13 v 1: Though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.

Interpretation of the verse obtained from meditating on the scripture: The scripture talks about an instrument known as the cymbal, lets start from here. According to wikipedia: a cymbal is a common percussion instrument. Often used in pairs, cymbals consist of thin, normally round plates of various alloys. The majority of cymbals are of indefinite pitch, although small disc-shaped cymbals based on ancient designs sound a definite note (see: crotales). Cymbals are used in many ensembles ranging from the orchestra, percussion ensembles, jazz bands, heavy metal bands, and marching groups. Drum kits usually incorporate at least a crash, ride or crash/ride, and a pair of hi-hat cymbals. A player of cymbals is known as a cymbalist. (source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymbal)

Hence a Cymbal is made out of metal and its used in pairs, when clapped together makes this irritating and horrible noise, one will wonder if at all it's a musical instrument. As the noise it produces can at times be tone deafening and can really be a disturbance.

However when a cymbal is used with other instruments in an orchestra it produces a nice symphony, most orchestras use cymbals and you would hardly even notice this singular instrument as irritating because it blends in with other instruments and makes melodious music.

Concomitantly, when as Christians we speak in tongues without love we are like the tinkling cymbal making a cacophonous noise that is irritating to both God and man. However if we walk in the love of God, our tongue speaking produces a sweet sound of melody to God that will make him our prayers in tongues acceptable before him. Essentially without love no matter how many tongues you speak it is an empty noise before God!

Life Principle: Pray for the grace to love and cultivate the fruit of Love in our lives. Strive to do more acts of love to everyone you come in contact with.

Prayer Points:

1) Oh Lord cultivate the fruit of love in my life, in Jesus name.

2) Oh Lord uproot every evil tree of hatred from my spirit in Jesus name.

3) Oh Lord, help me to love my neighbour as my self in Jesus name.
