VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Throw the net

"And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat "

Safest place to throw your net?

JESUS CHRIST

1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

Net - symbolizes our tool or method we used to "catch" our food. It's all our anxieties, our cares in life, our purpose in life.

Habakkuk 1:15-17 (Amplified Bible)

[The Chaldean] brings all of them up with his hook; he catches and drags them out with his net, he gathers them in his dragnet; so he rejoices and is in high spirits.

Therefore he sacrifices [offerings] to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, because from them he lives luxuriously and his food is plentiful and rich.

Shall he therefore continue to empty his net and mercilessly go on slaying the nations forever?

While some people, like the Chaldeans, were surprised by their methods on catching their food, they worshipped it, instead of worshipping GOD who gave them the catch, the wisdom to do it.

Matthew 4:18-20 (Amplified Bible)

As He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, throwing a dragnet into the sea, for they were fishermen.

And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!

At once they left their nets and became His disciples [sided with His party and followed Him].

Matthew 4:21 (Amplified Bible)

And going on further from there He noticed two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets and putting them right; and He called them.

It's a good thing to notice, that Simon Peter and Andrew only let down their nets or left their nets but not their boats, but James and John left their father (who owns the fishing business) and the boat (their tool of the trade)

Forsake your net or deny your net and acknowledge GOD who works to prosper you and to provide for you not your net. Worship GOD alone.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

B. Quick result for quick obedience

"So they cast the net, and now they were not able to haul it in for such a big catch (mass, quantity) of fish [was in it]."

What if the disciples disobeyed the LORD GOD and started logicalizing Him, since they were fishermen, they won't get any instructions on how to catch a fish from a carpenter, but they did obeyed quickly so it yielded a huge catch for them, rewarding their quick obedience.

Matthew 26:19 (Amplified Bible)

And accordingly the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they made ready the Passover supper.

Joshua 1:2 (Amplified Bible)

Moses My servant is dead. So now arise [take his place], go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them, the Israelites.

IX. CONCLUSION:

1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified Bible)
