VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. CHRIST is the Mediator of the New Covenant

1. Those who are called and offered in the Old Covenant may receive the fulfilment of the promised everlasting inheritance

"[Christ, the Messiah] is therefore the Negotiator and Mediator of an [entirely] new agreement (testament, covenant), so that those who are called and offered it may receive the fulfilment of the promised everlasting inheritance"

Hebrews 7:22 (Amplified Bible)

7:22 In keeping with [the oath’s greater strength and force], Jesus has become the Guarantee of a better (stronger) agreement [a more excellent and more advantageous covenant].

Hebrews 8:6 (Amplified Bible)

8:6 But as it now is, He [Christ] has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is as much superior and more excellent [than the old] as the covenant (the agreement) of which He is the Mediator (the Arbiter, Agent) is superior and more excellent, [because] it is enacted and rests upon more important (sublimer, higher, and nobler) promises.

Hebrews 12:24 (Amplified Bible)

12:24 And to Jesus, the Mediator (Go-between, Agent) of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks [of mercy], a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel [which cried out for vengeance].

1 Timothy 2:5 (Amplified Bible)

2:5 For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

The word mediator is "mesites" in Greek, meaning

1. "a go between"

2. one who intervenes between two, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant

3. a medium of communication, arbitrator

CHRIST, the Messiah are all of these and even more, because He is both GOD and man, He has both the element of both parties necessary so that both parties can understand and relate to Him. He is more than qualified to be an arbitrator as well since He's GOD-Man.

Illustration: Years later our president sent an arbitrator to the muslim areas, but the arbitrator was not understood since he is tagalog but not a muslim, he lacks the necessary requirement to be an arbitrator. But CHRIST, the Messiah, literally became man so He can go between us. GOD looks to Him whenever we sin and say we are blameless, and we humans look to JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

B. CHRIST's death rescued, delivered and redeemed those of the old covenant from sins committed under the old covenant

"since a death has taken place which rescues and delivers and redeems them from the transgressions committed under the [old] first agreement"

Hebrews 11:40 (Amplified Bible)

11:40 Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them].

Romans 3:24-26 (Amplified Bible)

3:24 [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,

3:25 Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment.

3:26 It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus.
