II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

IV. TEXT:

Mark 11:15 (Amplified Bible)

11:15 And they came to Jerusalem. And He went into the temple [area, the porches and courts] and began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple area, and He overturned the [four-footed] tables of the money changers and the seats of those who dealt in doves;

V. THESIS:

We are a house of prayer.

Romans 12:12 (New Century Version)

12:12 Be joyful because you have hope. Be patient when trouble comes, and pray at all times.

Ephesians 6:18 (Amplified Bible)

6:18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

G. Key verse: Mark 10:45

Mark 10:45 (Amplified Bible)

10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

CHRIST waited for this since He was a little child.

Luke 2:49 (Amplified Bible)

2:49 And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business?

CHRIST was prophesied to build the True Temple, that's our body, the Temple of the HOLY SPIRIT, but will not left out the current temple.

Zechariah 6:12 (Amplified Bible)

6:12 And say to him, Thus says the Lord of hosts: [You, Joshua] behold (look at, keep in sight, watch) the Man [the Messiah] whose name is the Branch, for He shall grow up in His place and He shall build the [true] temple of the Lord.

There's one purpose of the Temple, that's it to be a house of prayer at all times.

Romans 1:10 (Amplified Bible)

1:10 I keep pleading that somehow by God’s will I may now at last prosper and come to you.

And as a temple of the HOLY SPIRIT, we are to live a lifestyle of prayer, to practice faith, we need to pray.

Habakkuk 2:1 (Amplified Bible)

2:1 [OH, I know, I have been rash to talk out plainly this way to God!] I will [in my thinking] stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make [as His mouthpiece] to the perplexities of my complaint against Him.

Romans 1:17 (Amplified Bible)

1:17 For in the Gospel a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith]. As it is written, The man who through faith is just and upright shall live and shall live by faith.

But the one purpose was neglected but instead the Temple was turned into a marketplace.

A. CHRIST drove out those who bought and sold

"and began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple area,"

Matthew 21:12 (Amplified Bible)

21:12 And Jesus went into the temple (whole temple enclosure) and drove out all who bought and sold in the sacred place, and He turned over the four-footed tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who sold doves.

The temple was a sacred place dedicated for one purpose only, to commune with GOD, the FATHER.

Luke 19:45 (Amplified Bible)

19:45 Then He went into the temple [enclosure] and began to drive out those who were selling,

The WORDS of JESUS was "cave of robbers"

Luke 19:46 (Amplified Bible)

19:46 Telling them, It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a cave of robbers.

Isaiah 56:7 (Amplified Bible)

56:7 All these I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
