Recognize and embrace the privilege of being chosen by God, and live our lives as a reflection of His love and goodness as part of a chosen generation.
Hey, everybody! We are so blessed to be gathered here today, and I'm really excited to talk to you about something that's been on my heart lately. You know, when we look around at our world today, it can sometimes feel like we're living in a time of chaos and confusion.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but the good news is that we don't have to face it alone. Why? Because we have been chosen by God! Every one of us in this room has been handpicked by the Creator of the universe to be part of His family. How amazing is that?
Mother Angelica once said, "We did not happen to be--we were chosen by God to exist." We are not just random people living ordinary lives, we are God's chosen people, here for a purpose.
First, let's consider the idea of being chosen by God from a historical perspective. In the Old Testament, we see that God chose the nation of Israel to be His special people. He made a covenant with Abraham, promising to bless him and his descendants, and to make them a great nation (Genesis 12:1-3).
This covenant was later reaffirmed with Isaac and Jacob, and it became the foundation for the unique relationship between God and the Israelites. Throughout their history, the Israelites were reminded of their status as God's chosen people, and they were called to be a light to the nations, showing the world the character and love of God.
This idea of being chosen by God did not end with the Israelites, however. In the New Testament, we see that through Jesus Christ, God has extended this special relationship to all who believe in Him.
In Ephesians 1:4-5, Paul writes, "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will." This means that as followers of Christ, we too are part of God's chosen people, and we share in the same privileges and responsibilities that the Israelites had.
The privilege of being chosen means that we are deeply loved and valued by God ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
