Choose Your Weapons
Contributed by Mike Rickman on Jun 21, 2024 (message contributor)
Summary: The battle we are in requires the right weapons. God has given us everything we need for the battle.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
God works in an opposite way from the devil. Every promise has already been accomplished in the spiritual realm and when we stand in faith on His Word believing that ,even though it may look bad , God is able to accomplish what He has promised - till we see a transformation from the spiritual to the natural. If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation…
So how do we keep the enemy at bay? First of all, don’t give the devil a foothold. You know, something that I intentionally do when I am writing, when I write or type the name satan, I never give him a capital S. Spell check has a problem with that – but I don’t. He’s nothing. He is defeated. Then we make a steady diet of His word. Take notice of those promises knowing the Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. When thoughts that are contrary with Scripture come to your mind, take them captive and then get into agreement with God and His Word. Believe that when we make every thought obedient to Christ, we pull down strongholds and build a stronghold in the Spirit that satan cannot break through.
Use your tools – your weapons - effectively. You have been given everything you need to live a victorious life in Christ.
Closing:
National Geographic ran an article about the Alaskan bull moose. The males of the species battle for dominance during the fall breeding season, literally going head-to-head with antlers crunching together as they collide. Often the antlers, their only weapon are broken. That ensures defeat. The heftiest moose, with the largest and strongest antlers, triumphs. Therefore, the battle fought in the fall is really won during the summer, when the moose eat continually. The one that consumes the best diet for growing antlers and gaining weight will be the heavyweight in the fight. Those that eat inadequately sport weaker antlers and less bulk. There is a lesson here for us. Spiritual battles await. Satan will choose a season to attack. Will we be victorious, or will we fall? Much depends on what we do now--before the wars begin. The bull-moose principle: Enduring faith, strength, and wisdom for trials are best developed before they're needed.

So pray the prayer of radical faith. Pastor Joseph told us a couple of years ago that the definition of radical faith is to believe God’s word, and then act like you do.
How are you going to respond? It's your choice. But it's God's promise.
