Summary: Humans, to a large extent, determine the state of the earth. Whatever actions the children of today take in the future will either preserve or destroy the earth and humanity with it. The children of today are the earth of tomorrow.

TEXT: Genesis 18:19

"For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him."

Proverbs 29:2

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

CHILDREN - THE EARTH OF TOMORROW

Children are the earth of tomorrow. Humans determine the state of the earth; therefore, decisions the children of today will make in the future will preserve or destroy the earth and humanity with it. Children brought up with the right notion of justice and judgment will make the earth a better place. When evil and wicked men rule, the earth suffers and mourns but when good and righteous people are in authority, the earth rejoices with joy. For good people to rule tomorrow, the children of today must be trained in the way of the LORD, so that justice and righteous judgment prevail.

THOUGHTS, HABITS AND CHARACTER FORMATION

Humans are creatures of habit. Habit forms character and character defines who a person is. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Our thoughts shapes our behaviour, attitude, action and gradually determines our habits. If we teach our children and impart upon them godly and humane values; good habits will form, giving birth to godly and humane character. This will bless the earth with humans that will rule with justice and right judgment. It is the responsibilities of the parents of today to ensure that this happens in order to secure the future of the earth and humanity. "Start children off on the way they should go,

and even when they are old they will not turn from it" (Prov 22:6 NIV). It takes the grace of God to change the heart of people set in their ways of life. If the heart is set right from childhood, righteousness becomes a natural habit. Start today!

INTENSE AND RELENTLESS TRAINING

The intensity God requires from us in training our children is relentless. As recorded in Deut 6:7-8, we must teach them the values of righteousness repeatedly at home, on the road, before they sleep and when they wake up in the morning. These teachings must be at our finger tips, in our head, in and around the house. It is not an easy task. It takes God's grace to achieve this.

In the genealogy of Jesus, certain names were infamous for the wrong reasons (Matt 1:1-6). Rehab was a noted prostitute. Tamar deceived her father-in-law to commit adultery with her. Bethsheba committed adultery with David. Ruth was a widow. This shows that Good can bring good out of a bad situation. No matter how far gone your children are, God can still transform their lives. With God nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). The heart of every human is in God's hand. "The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases" (Prov 21:1NLT). All is not lost. The future of our children and the earth are secure in God's hand. Let's play our part, God will certainly do his part.

PRAYER:

Father, my children are in your hands, help me to fulfil my role in your plan for their lives in Jesus name.

CONFESSION:

Everything will work together for the good of my children.

God bless you. Shalom.
