VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Why study Zadok?

Because Zadok represents or symbolizes the CHRISTian born again believers because of righteousness that came from the LORD. As Zadok so are we priests.

1 Peter 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Zadok or "tsadaq" in Hebrew means:

1. to be (causatively make) right (in a moral or forensic sense)

2. cleanse, clear self, (be, do) just (-ice, -ify, -ify self), (be, turn to) righteous (-ness)

From the start, we know Zadok is a man who desires to be righteous before GOD. He is an Aaronite, direct descendant of Aaron and of the Levite clan, one of the princes of the twelve tribes of Israel. Unlike Aaron, who only wants to please Moses or a man-pleaser calling him lord instead of the LORD, though we know Aaron is older than Moses, Zadok has in himself a desire to please GOD being righteous himself.

1 Chronicles 27:17 (King James Version)

27:17 Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok:

Exodus 32:21 (Amplified Bible)

32:21 And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?

A separate leader in the tribe of Levites.

2 Samuel 15:24 (Amplified Bible)

15:24 Abiathar [the priest] and behold, Zadok came also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God until all the people had gone from the city.

Even the time of King David, King David recognizes Zadok's spiritual leadership and Zadok was given great responsibilities during time of King David.

1 Chronicles 16:39 (Amplified Bible)

16:39 And David left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon

1 Chronicles 24:3 (Amplified Bible)

24:3 And David, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided and distributed them according to their assigned duties.

1 Chronicles 24:31 (Amplified Bible)

24:31 These likewise cast lots, as did their kinsmen the sons of Aaron, in the presence of David the king, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the priests and Levites—the head of each father’s house and his younger brother alike.

During the time of Ezekiel, sons of Zadok was given priveleges in regards to ministering before the LORD by the LORD.

Ezekiel 40:46 (Amplified Bible)

40:46 And the chamber with its view to the north is for the priests who have charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who alone among the sons of Levi may come near to the Lord to minister to Him.

B. His family

Zadok son of Ahitub (in Hebrew, name means "brother of goodness"), he carried with him his father's reputation.
