A CHANGE OF PLANS DOES NOT NECESSARILY COMPROMISE ONE'S SINCERITY AND COMMITMENT
1. Paul made plans to visit Corinth (:15-16)
2. He made them with commitment (:17) -- with the commitment which characterizes God, who fulfills all His promises (:18-22)
a. He is faithful
b. His promises are fulfilled in Christ
c. His Spirit is a deposit on the promise of the resurrection
3. He chose to change his plans -- to spare them discipline (1:23 - 2:4)
a. This would be painful for the Corinthians and Paul (1:23 - 2:3)
b. By giving them time to deal with their problems, Paul could make a joyful visit (2:3-4)
