CASTING YOUR CARE

1Peter 5: 6-11

Johnny’s commentary volume 1 reads like this: SERVING CHRIST IN HUMILITY WITH THE HAND OF GOD ON YOU THAT CHRIST MAY EXALT YOU IN DUE TIME, CAST ALL YOU CARE UPON HIM FOR HE CARES FOR YOU.

You can try and I have, to cast your care on someone else but it will probably come back to you.

Cast "all you care;" personal cares, family cares, cares for the present, and cares for the future, for yourselves, for others, for the church, on God.

These are burdensome, and often very sinful, when they arise from unbelief and distrust, when they torture and distract the mind, unfit us for duties, and hinder our delight in the service of God.

The remedy is, to cast our care upon God, and leave every event to his wise and gracious disposal. Firm belief that the Divine will and counsels are right, calms the spirit of a man.

Truly the godly too often forget this, and fret themselves to no purpose.

The golden mines of all-spiritual comfort and good are found in this remedy of the soul.

Ps 55:22 cast thy burden upon the Lord", 1Pet"cast thy care upon the Lord";

The care of the body, and of all the affairs of life,

Depend upon the providence of God,

Also the care of the soul, and the spiritual

Just because we are Christians does not mean that we do not have times of troubles and cares that we need to cast on the Lord.

The altar in most churches has become the least used piece of furniture in the house when it should be the most used.

for he careth for you;

For concerns of life, for food and raiment for them,

Not withhold any good thing from them, or ever leave them and forsake them;

This man Peter knew somewhat of what he is speaking,

V8 connects very closely with v7

As you are casting your cares BE SOBER, NOT DRUNK;

BE VIGILANT, NOT PROCASTINAING.

Why because there is an enemy out there.

Peter has suffered because he was not watching and keeping guard. That is not to say God gave up on him, but instead of watching he was sleeping, and he round up denying that he knew who Jesus was.

To many people today in the Church want to cast there care but go to sleep after doing so.

Tares will come into the wheat, the enemy will sow it there.

Where does this enemy show up?

1Pe 5:8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Pe 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Where they resist steadfastness.

CASTING ALL

He hears the cry of the destitute

A Broken and contrite spirit he will not cast out

Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning.

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

25 ¶ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

The greatest cure for worry is prayer. Faith will arise.

Through prayer we renew our trust in God’s divine plan for our life.

The peace of God comes to guard our heart and mind as a result of communing with God.

We receive mercy and grace to help in the time of need.

Do you have some cares or just 1 care you need to cast upon Him today.
