Can We Fight Against God?
Contributed by Dr. Ronald Shultz on Jan 21, 2018 (message contributor)
Summary: If it has been prophesied that the world will get worse and worse until He comes can we fight against God by trying to prevent it?
Acts 5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. KJV
As I watch the various postings fly back and forth of all the things that are, might and will happen to the US in the coming years I have consider the flip side of these verses.
As we know, the Apostles were of God and the Sanhedrin and various opposers could not stop them or the Gospel from spreading.
Conversely, we have been predicting the Rapture, the Trib and the AntiChrist heavily for the last 35 years at least or since I became a Christian in '75.
If all the evil preceived comes to pass, what else did we expect before the coming of the Lord? America will have to fall at some point for the AntiChrist to come to power. All of our values will be rejected in an age of apostasy as was predicted would happen. Evil men shall wax worse and worse, etc and etc.
Thus we may well be fighting against God if this is the time for all that to come to pass. Reality is that there is nothing that can be sanely or legally done until Nov 2010 and frankly I do not forsee a major change. My suspicion is that the Left will gain more seats in both houses and we will see at least two more judges appointed before then.
Those in power are not going to listen to you. They have absolute power at this point. All the tea parties and such will literally have no effect whatsover. Vote and write if you wish but be calm and realistic.
DO the right thing. This is a spiritual issue, not a political one. Pray for the salvation of those who oppose God. Be about soulwinning as we should have been all along. Pray for revival of a carnal, materialistic, fad seeking, pop shrunk Church that has no impact on the culture since there is little difference between the Church and the ... Read Moreculture. Pray for the salvation of false prophets and the "conversion" of pastors and Christians who have compromised the Word for fame and fortune or out of fear. Start meeting more regularly at Church. The early Christians met daily for prayer and exhortation. At best, many meet 4 hours a week with the majority 1-2 hours on Sunday.
Get back into the Word and prayer for yourself. Stop living for this world and live as though you have been given less than a year to live. Get out of debt and live simply and the economy will not matter as much. Spend your time and money on things that will last for eternity. Get healthly spiritually and maybe it will affect your health and you won't have to worry about healthcare.
If you are in a church where nothing is happening but maintaining a building get out and go where something is happening and God is moving. If you have seven members you don't need a building. Sell it and merge with a larger church. There is strength in numbers, but not in number of buildings.
Live for the next world more than this one and God may well adjust this one for you.
If not, and we all end up in a jail or prison camp or are exceuted or euthanized then it was God's will to have us suffer and die for His glory and to bring us into the fellowship of his sufferings to give us the martyr's crown. You want to see true praise and ... Read Moreworship? In the camps is where you most likely see it more than the concerts on Sundays. Ask our brethren who are persecuted around the world. Want the deeper life? It is found in the sufferings of Christ and in the cells with the Apostle Paul not in the plush mansions we call churches or in the messages of the soft and pretty preachers on TV. It is in the beaten and bruised bodies of Paul, Stephen and on the isles of exile with John.
Wake up America! Jesus is coming, but He may well take us through some fires of purifying persecution before we get to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Will you fight against it or welcome it and embrace it as the will of God for His glory and your edification and elevation to greater heights in the Kingdom?
Maranatha!!!
