Youth Sermon: Can God Trust You?

Introduction

Today, we're going to talk about trust. You know, that thing that helps us believe in our friends, family, and even ourselves. But here's a question for you: Can God trust you? Yeah, I know, it's a tough one. But don't worry, we're going to dive into this together.

What I want you to walk away with is: little things matter in the Kingdom of God, and trust is built or lost one small decision at a time.

Can God trust you?

Object Lesson

Before we get into the Bible stuff, let's do a quick object lesson. I have here a small bag of marbles. Each marble represents a small decision we make every day. Now, imagine this jar is your life. As you make good decisions, you fill your life with these marbles, building trust with God and others. But if you make bad decisions, you start to lose marbles, and trust begins to crumble. Remember, it's the little things that matter.

Bible Passages

[Read Luke passage]

In Luke 16, Jesus tells a story about a manager who's in big trouble because of the little things he's done wrong. But instead of freaking out, he uses his smarts to fix the situation. Jesus isn't saying it's cool to be dishonest, but He's showing us that even the little things we do can have a big impact on our lives.

[Read Matthew passage]

In Matthew 13, Jesus talks about how the Kingdom of Heaven is like a tiny mustard seed that grows into a huge tree. It's a reminder that even small things can grow into something big and important.

Conclusion

So, what does this all mean for us? It means that we need to pay attention to the little things in our lives. The small decisions we make every day can either build trust with God and others or tear it down.

Here's a challenge for you this week: Be intentional about your decision-making. Think about the little things you do and how they affect your relationship with God and others. And if you need to make things right with someone, go for it. Trust is super important, and we need to work on it every day.

Prayer

"God, help us to be trustworthy in the little things and big things in our lives. Show us where we need to make better decisions and help us to grow closer to You. Amen."
